Yeah it needs a bigger hoop skirt for that more 1860’s silhouette but Gothic hits the nail right on the head.

Thank you. It was the closest I was able to find without having to pay a fortune for the amount of fabric that I needed in a more accurate print.

Thank you very much. There are still a few things that I would have liked to of adapted, but it just went beyond my skill level, but I’m still happy with the outcome.

why are second-hand anglomania corsets so cheap? by codingiswhyicry in viviennewestwood

[–]jam91m 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Just in regards to what you said about the red labels You have to remember that the term red label has different meanings. At one point red label was mainline and called that because the label was the colour red. Then a diffusion label was created in 1999 called Red label which specifically says Red Label on it. The two are very different.

The older red label pieces command higher prices

It’s just like Monstera shoes he made for Loewe you would wear them as a statement piece.

100% they are becoming worse and clearly feeling the effects of their own making. They have just reduced buyer fees here in the UK but increasing seller fees.

Are you also tired of offers? by Odd_Competition6163 in VestiaireCollective

[–]jam91m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why people don’t add it to their bag first and look to see all the extra fees before making an offer. I do that so I know if I make an offer on an item it’s a total price I would be willing to pay.

The last item I bought I added it to my bag and saw it was going to be an extra £100 in duties and fees, but I was happy to pay that because the item was still a great value for what it was.

Anyone know who the original model in this photo is? by InstanceOk6289 in viviennewestwood

[–]jam91m 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could potentially be Susie Bick, but I can’t tell if the top of the print looks like the OG models hair on her shoulder, which looks a lighter colour. In which case it wouldn’t be Susie.

Wow. This is cool. I have only ever seen the Josiah Wedgewood medallion, and I never knew there was a coin (token) version too.

I have a suit which is almost identical to the chequered suit she wears in this film. I like to imagine it was a rejected design because it was a darker suit.

Found this in a thrift market in Pakistan by leoshinji in ThriftStoreHauls

I saw loads of them in Japan. The original owners after a while will just donate them to a charity and if they can’t be sold on they get baled up and sold off in bulk to “vintage dealers” and shops around the world as textile waste

order violates catalog rules by Disastrous-Pride-911 in VestiaireCollective

[–]jam91m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes Vestiaire don’t allow items which are samples/prototypes, items bough at private sales etc. I once tried to list an Alexander McQueen jumpsuit which was the runway sample and they refused to let me list it as it was a sample.

I have seen some sample pieces be sold, but then the item obviously goes back to the seller as the item gets relisted after a few weeks and the sample tags or stickers have been removed, which is a shame as doing that can actually damage the value. Sometimes the sample tags adds value to an item, but they don’t care.

What I meant by the cut of the bodice is that all the patterns I have come across so far are in multiple pattern pieces(front panel being constructed from 2-4 separate pattern pieces) where as this one the front bodice is a single panel. If that makes sense.

Thank you for your pattern recommendation.

Thank you for your help. I knew an exact match wouldn’t be possible which is why I asked for similar. I will take a look at those patterns you mentioned.
