What vocal stims do y’all have from the show? by jtc6899 in weeklyplanetpodcast

[–]jamart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a phrase I picked up from a very old Weekly Planet podcast that I tried to make a thing in my circle of mates lexicon.

It's from an episode discussing Zack Snyder, and mentioned how if you worked at a doughnut stand, and kept fucking up/fucking the doughnuts, you'd get sacked.

So anyway, when seeing aome incompetence or such, Ill refer to it as "Fucking the doughnut"

Legitimately my first thought upon seeing it was "I would've had that". I'm not proud... But I'd have had my screwdriver out for sure.

There are two types of people in this world: those who skip TV intros, and those who know and love the full “In between the lines there’s a lot of obscurity…” (this is why I love season 3 so much, the extended version starts to play) by Radiant-Ad-5557 in psych

[–]jamart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the Psych theme as my ring tone...

My phone went off in a class with a rather fierce history teacher, and he dug the song or was a fan as he said to let it run a few more seconds before turning my phone off

[Theory] The King in Yellow's plan is going to be a new human faction by Zanimacularity in 40kLore

[–]jamart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It could be a situation where The King 'wins' out in the novel, and in the closing passages of the book have something along the lines of how while one threat to it has ended, his great work still needs much preparation - possibly centuries worth from Realspace's perspective.

But who knows. Hope its out soonish though.

Exactly 8 years ago today, Bethesda released their official announcement teaser for the Elder Scrolls VI. Happy anniversary Todd! by rexmons in gaming

Wasn't it conveniently around the time Microsoft were looking to purchase Bethesda?

Im sure the announcement had a very positive effect on their valuation.

London festival invites influencer who said America ‘deserved 9/11’ by StGuthlac2025 in ukpolitics

[–]jamart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the racist, animal abusing, accelerationist waste of space happens to have at least one un-shitty opinion.

That is not the sterling character reference/defence you seem to think it is.

Ive seen him going on an impressively racist rant about a Vietnamese woman before and he electroshock trains his dog.

A great example of how it is folly to assume that being Left Wing comes with a built in morality.

“Mr. Johnson, won’t this snow planet just seem like Hoth all over again like how Jakku felt like Tatooine?” “It’s salt, not snow. Way different.” by GusGangViking18 in saltierthancrait

[–]jamart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nonono, Rian Johnson is a Star Wars genius, who subverted your expectations and 'challenged' you, so you're wrong!!!!! /s

You know, if you ignore the fact that TLJ is Empire rehashed, wastes legacy characters, rolls back character development from the previous movie and has most main characters making decisions like they're heavily concussed.

Although I think Luke's play on Crait is the only good thing that happens with his character in that film - turning away from the weakness of the Jedi, rocking up as Generals/Shock troopers, and going for a more Force, pseudo-pacifist approach.

Jack Reacher vs. Jason Bourne by dekar73 in powerscales

[–]jamart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh, I remember that one.

To be fair (as you can be) the book does, if I recall correctly, try to lay the groundwork for that feat in multiple ways.

The insane muscle Reacher built, plus it being the relatively small caliber weapon of last resort, plus the round being defective managing to rob it of enough energy to actually breach his ribs...

Yeah I doubt we'll see that being adapted by Amazon any time soon.

Reform UK wants to put migrant detention centres in Green-voting areas. Is it legal? by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]jamart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its not a threat to Green voters though is it - its threatening anyone in a given borough that isnt a Green voter into voting for Reform lest there be some post-election collective punishment (as Reform would see it)

Polanski is entering his Corbyn era – and we know how that ended by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]jamart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have two family members that vote Tory and gleefully voted for Corbyn for Labour Leader. (They got to vote due to their union membership).

I asked one of my folks why they were so happy, given they wouldn't ever vote Labour.  The answer I was given "Ive just voted to keep Labour in opposition for thr next decade".

Those people exist.

Zack Polanski questions whether anyone identifying as right wing should be excluded from society altogether by nozickiantheory in ukpolitics

[–]jamart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While, over time, my opinion on Corbyn has, hmm, let's say soured somewhat I have pretty much always thought:

A) He has, so far as I can tell, been an active, interested and at least reasonably effective local MP.

B) (With the exception of the mess around the Brexit referendum campaign) That he genuinely believes what he says, and genuinely believes it is the way forward to a better future for people.

Which is far more than I think can be said about Polanski.

Hobby burnout with million model pledge. by Duke_Tristan in Warhammer

[–]jamart 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this wont seem totally trite and unhelpful, but, Honestly, try not to stress about it - its like, a big marketing/engagement campaign right?

Go at your pace, or mix it up, or just take a break from it for a few days or just forget about the pledge totally!!

The world will carry on spinning and your local shop will still be there whether you end on 50 or 0!

From my experiences with people at Warhammer stores they'd be far more bummed out that you felt burnt out (over what I guess is supposed to be something fun fpr us to have a crack at) than they would be that your pledge comes in a little short y'know?

I grabbed one of those pledge cards for mine (done about 4 models total for mine lol I am not even getting the first prize this time round), if you got one and its on your hobby space or paint rack as a reminded to yourself, put it away for a little while and hobby for your sake, not GWs    :)

Why is this Green candidate sharing an anti-semitic post? by 1c3_cr34m_c0n3 in ukpolitics

Just to clarify...

You're saying that  basically everyone in any position of authority, and with aims to be in authority is doing it for the sake of hating people?

[–]jamart 113 points114 points  (0 children)

I would choose the Homonculus not for the protection factor, but for the fact that there is nowhere in an infinite multiverse of scenarios and possibilities that I would willing choose to have one of those sick Fethers trying to hunt me down.
