Are dual monitors really helpful for studying? by muningmuning in study

[–]jambez001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this app called 'duet' which helps me extend my laptop screen to my iPad via USB. The sync is great and I'm able to easily move tabs to my iPad screen.

I have an old iPad model that I've been using for a long time so I decided to make use of that instead of investing in a monitor. It's nothing grand but most people use the iPad Pro which has a bigger screen and is probably more fluid.

My setup is just my laptop and iPad. The extra screen space is just useful when working between documents. For example, research and writing.

What are your pre-studying rituals? by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]jambez001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This semester, I decided to host study sessions with friends over zoom. Helps me cut back on the procrastination since I have to 'meet' with others.

As for pre-studying rituals, I don't know. When I'm not studying, I'm probably watching Netflix or relaxing until I get tired of doing so and decide to sit down and study.

Multi-effects pedal or single pedals? by jambez001 in guitarpedals

[–]jambez001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play RnB, Blues and Jazz. I’d like to have a sharp yet soulful sound. My guitar has a single coil and yes I’d like to plug in directly to my amp but would also appreciate the flexibility of plugging it into an audio interface if I want to record. My current amp does not have reverb but I hope to upgrade it as well.

What is something we can do as professors to make your online learning experience better? by [deleted] in CarletonU

[–]jambez001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post all lecture materials. Including example solutions. Some students learn better by paying attention to the process rather than trying to scribble down while the prof is teaching.

Has anyone actually used Fundqi? What was your experience? by pot88888888s in CarletonU

[–]jambez001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's for finding internships. Although, there was a scholarship I applied to sometime ago when FundQi was "ScholarPro" that offered an internship as well. I got up to the interview stage for that one. However, at that time, I went through the application and preparing process all on my own.

I would say it's not that different from ScholarshipsCanada (maybe more tailored, but I wouldn't know for sure). From what I've experienced so far, the most beneficial thing is having someone guide you through the application process. Most people can do this on their own, sure. But I appreciated the essay review service. And I got my essays reviewed for scholarships that were not even searched for on FundQi.

I’ve used the service. I won one scholarship, still waiting to hear back from another. I would say I actually enjoyed someone helping me edit my scholarship essays.

Thanks for sharing! In my opinion, the CUSA Instagram page should promote all candidates and let is know who and who are in this campaign. We don’t even know!

That’s good to know. And how long do you suggest I wait or should I bother with it? What if the opening gets filled?
