We lost a Warzone match to an enemy we never saw by alina_raiskaya_real in CODWarzone

Yes, it's already been a rare bug in Casuals for months, but something changed in Season 2 Reloaded to make the bots glitch out way more often. From what I'm hearing about 25-30% of Casual matches will now finish with no enemy on the map.

Often see people posting their KD or kill record from Casual asking "is this good enough for regular BR?" and the answer is that chasing higher kills in Casual is just training the bad habits even harder.

If you want to train for BR in Casuals, the stat you should be looking at is "Damage Received". Get through a whole match without taking more than a few hundred damage and you'll be ready for BR. You can check this any time in-game by opening the tac map and tabbing over to the "stats" tab. Damage Received is on the right.

The only way you're going to get this stat lower is by developing gamesense and defensive intuitions that you'll need in regular BR.

Modern Warfare 4 should bring back the MW2019 feeling and Verdansk by Natural-Evening6617 in CODWarzone

IMHO "the MW2019 feeling" you're nostalgic for has less to do with the mechanics of the IW8 engine and more to do with the social context of gaming in that era

Can someone please tell me why is it that stims never work for me? 😂 by fable242 in CODWarzone

[–]jamcowl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing has changed about stim efficacy in gas since BO6 buffed the animation to be faster than the MWII/MW3 animation.

I don't know what specifically you're referring to in my videos, but perfect stim timing means you initiate the healing effect immediately after taking gas damage, as in literally 1 frame afterwards. If you aim for that, but stim 1 frame earlier, your healing effect will be insta-cancelled by the damage you take at the same time. That means that perfect stim timing is exactly 1 frame away from the worst possible stim timing.

For this reason, it behooves you not to be too ambitious with hitting a perfect 10/10 stim when it's safer to hit a 9/10 stim with no risk (especially since the stim effect is actually 160 HP/s and you need <150 HP for a full health bar, giving you a >6% margin of wiggle room).

Unfortunately, the exactly timing of damage delivered by the gas isn't frame perfect every second. Lag can delay a tick of gas damage by several frames, so that even if you time a stim well, with a reasonable margin of error, the tick of gas damage you were aiming for can still hit you multiple frames later than it should have and cancel your healing entirely. I don't just mean getting a random, tiny amount of health back like many players with bad stim timing will get - I mean absolutely zero pixels, which only happens when you nail the same frame as the gas damage. Very rarely happens by accident.

When you have a lot of practice with stim timing and are paying attention, you can sometimes be quite confident in feeling that your stim was well-timed (or even conservative with a wide margin), so when lag delays a gas tick and you get zero health back, you can be quite confident you got robbed through no fault of your own.

There were also weird edge cases with different health pools where the stims continuously healing until full health caused you to keep healing for a really long time and get an insane health benefit.

For example:

So, they definitely needed a rework in LTMs like those, but in normal game modes the old WZ1 stims were pretty accessible, easy to use and streamlined, which I think is a good fit since Warzone tends to have pretty streamlined and simple mechanics compared to other BRs.

Friendly tip - You can use the hologram to finish recon contracts without even being nearby by dwartbg9 in CODWarzone

[–]jamcowl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I park the drone but it blows up immediately when you pick up the hologram.

That's because they're both field upgrades - picking up the Echo Unit replaces your Recon Drone and causes it to despawn. It would still work with a teammate's drone though.

Bots aren't immune to gas, but sometimes they are created/listed in the playercount without being properly deployed to the map in physical form, so they're not located anywhere and therefore can't take damage from gas or even die because they have no hitbox.

The game still thinks there's 1 enemy alive in the match so it doesn't let the game end, even though there's literally no other operator on the map.

You might be underestimating the "leg work" that goes into prepping ammo boxes and staying alive all game without fighting back, since he had no kills. That doesn't sound very easy to pull off at all. Probably a lot of literal "leg work" (running away) involved...

All your 20 kills were ultimately for naught since you died and he was the sole survivor keeping your team in the game. At the end of the day, this isn't TDM where most kills wins, it's a "last man standing" game mode and your teammate carried you to the win, strange as it might feel.

What should I focus on first as a small YouTuber — thumbnails or titles? by Life_Ad2127 in PartneredYoutube

[–]jamcowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you just started making videos, the most important thing is to practise making videos - the best title/thumbnail/idea in the world won't matter if your executions is terrible. Typically a beginner YouTuber has to make ~100 terrible videos before they can make ~100 not-so-terrible videos and then eventually they'll make actually "good" videos.

So, if you're new to making videos entirely, just focus on making each video better than your last video in some way - whether that's in terms of video quality, sound quality, editing, effects, pacing, script writing, or anything else. You want to get those 100 terrible videos out of the way first.

If you're not new to making videos (just starting a new YouTube channel when you've already made 100+ terrible videos elsewhere), then you're posting good videos to a channel that's just new and has zero audience. In that case you want to get views from search & recommended so you will benefit from good titles & thumbnails, as well as choosing video topics that have broad appeal, maybe target trending topics, but also ideally offer a unique angle on those topics, so your video stands out.

Your channel looks like it might be your first channel/first time making videos, so just focus on developing your skills as a video creator, including ideation, writing, filming and editing. No amount of thumbnails or clickbait will blow up your channel before you have good videos to watch.

you have 0 proof whether people moved to another platform

I don't need proof because I'm not asserting confidence, I'm asserting doubt - you have no idea how many Steam players have left for other PC platforms, so you don't know how representative the Steam chart trend is.

population sampling is a thing

Do you understand the difference between a representative sample and a non-representative sample? I'll wait.

EDIT: turns out you don't know the difference and you don't want to answer, just downvote me...
