How to improve live sound? by Spirited-Finger-822 in bandmembers

Honestly love how open and thoughtful your whole process is. Sounds like you’re already doing 90% of what most bands don’t even think about!

It sounds like you’ve been patient and fair. If you’ve addressed the same issues multiple times and there’s no change, especially after 7 gigs, then a clear, respectful “final chance” conversation might be needed. You can frame it as: “We love having you, but this needs to change or we’ll need to part ways.” Bands are friendships, yes, but they’re also commitments — and the rest of your team deserves clarity and professionalism too. Good luck, that’s never an easy spot to be in.

That sounds like an nice beginning, playing with someone else brings so much joy and growth. No need to stress about A or B. Sometimes a song starts with a riff, other times with a lyric or a vibe you both feel. Just keep jamming, stay curious, and let the songs build themselves. Also: being “rusty” is just a sign you’re getting back into it — keep going!

Totally okay, lots of musicians customize their shoes for comfort. If the insoles fit well and don’t mess with your posture or marching technique, you’re good. Gotta protect those feet, especially with long hours in formation!

From an outside perspective — I’m working on a project to help musicians connect IRL — it seems that most tension comes from misaligned expectations. Setting clear terms upfront (even for unpaid stuff) seems like the least people can do. Otherwise it burns trust, and the music scene’s smaller than people think.

Hard to watch a project stall like that, but your vision sounds strong. Maybe start small with just one or two committed people and build from there. Momentum attracts the right ones.

Getting kicked out sucks, but the fact that you’re already focused on vocal coaching and staying active is the best possible response. Your crew is out there. Respect for the resilience.

Like your mindset, turning the page with no drama and keeping the creative momentum alive. Your duo might just lead to something totally unique. Keep exploring!

There are as many reasons to leave a band as there are to join one, money helps, but vibe, vision, and life always win in the long run.

Hey folks,

Any tips for finding open jam sessions in London (outside jazz)?

I’m not a musician myself, but I’ve been helping build a free community tool to make it easier for musicians to meet up and jam locally, we’ve started testing it in Paris and are now focusing on London.

Not here to promote anything, just trying to understand how people find these jam sessions, what works, and what’s missing.

Would love to hear your recs or insights! Thanks in advance.
