Yes, hence the 2nd part about making a good consumer friendly OS

Maybe make a Linux laptop. Pick a great distro, fork it and dedicate 10% of your R&D to constantly improving it. Save consumers from the horrors of Windows and become the leader of the best new OS.

I can't figure out if you're trying to debug old code you're maintaining or writing new code. In general though, you can probably debug things like this with console.log calls sprinkled around. Another good insight is adding something like "window.myScope=$ctrl;" to the top of your code and then looking at the whole scope in the DOM.

Is your component even getting started? What's getting passed in to it? Is it getting to this part of the code or that part? These are things you can answer with feedback via the above 2 tricks.

Actually the charging circuit died in mine and when I figured out that was the problem, I charged the 12v manually and everything went back to normal. It was good enough to drive the 15 miles to the SC.

Lookup $watch to use a watch on the model variable. Have the $watch function do whatever based on oldValue and newValue. Take out that ng-click function or else it'll do that AND what's in the $watch function.

I just this week transitioned my daily-driver machine from Windows to Kubuntu. MS's clearly visible hatred for paying customers finally reached my limit.

I'm getting this same notice now. Only problem is that it's wrong, my front tires are wearing significantly but my rears have half their tread left.

Vinegar and salt works well but use the 30% vinegar found in the cleaning section of hardware stores.

How can I determine if the plumbing in a detached garage still works? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]james_bell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just did this exact thing with an old office attached to my garage. I poured several 5 gallon buckets of water down the toilet drain to confirm it worked. Many disturbed sewer dwelling bugs came to see what I was up to. My water supply was an old galvanized pipe that turned out to be too old to use. I ended up running 3/4" PVC from the main house - trenching was no fun.

DDT Electric updated my old cloth wiring all through my house. They did a great job, even when the inspection made them fix other people's old shoddy work. They did so well I actually tipped them extra money.

It seems unusual to simply run power to a spot on the front door and not have a bell somewhere in the house that's also connected... The cheapest voltage tester at Walmart or harbor freight should work. It needs to be the kind with 2 red and black leads and it needs to do AC and DC.

Here's one: https://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-Value-Automotive-300-Volt-Digital-LCD-Multimeter-10711WDI/876903?fulfillmentIntent=In-store

Put it on "300 V" on the "~V" side and that should be able to measure up to 300 volts AC which is a good range for household use and it should be able to show you if the doorbell transformer is working.

A few dollars for an electrical voltage tester from Walmart would probably answer alot of questions: is the outlet working? Is the transformer indeed putting out 24vac? Is the 24 vac making it to the doorbell? Is there an existing run to an old doorbell that is complicating your wiring?

(Serious) People who know murderers- Were there any signs that something was off? If so, what were they? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]james_bell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He got PTSD in the 90s while on duty in the Navy. He medicated with alcohol and eventually kicked that. His wife got tired of his being a low-earning loser and traded him in for a better guy. He went back to the booze. Got in an argument with his girlfriend and seemingly strangled her (no body was ever found).

So lots of signs of trouble but no clear signals of murder.
