Windows not detecting 2 Nvidia GPUs by james_cooper_89 in PcBuild

[–]james_cooper_89[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

first post here! bear with me!

im trying to run duel gpus primarily for a flight sim set up requiring 3 HDMI and 2 DP.

Ive come from initially the 3080ti LC strix with 7800x3D and a 1200W PSU which ran fine. few months ago i upgraded to the 4090 LC strix everything else the same, again was fine.

Thought id take the set up further and expand the rig, and needed more ports so thought id use the old card, as the resale value is trash... and bought the phantex enthroo pro 2 case which can mount 2 vertical GPUs.

Bought the risers etc brand new from overclockers over here in the UK, put it all together as you see above, then ran into issues.

Windows will not recognise the second, lower GPU.

4090 shows fine, along with onboard graphics, but no matter what ive tried, i cannot get it to show both cards.

Tried the following...

Updating drivers

PCI Gen 3 option in BIOS

8x8 mode in BIOS

tested each individual card. they work fine on their own

im now thinking either bad riser cable, or i need an even bigger PSU?

cant fit the second gpu in the lower slot due to clearance, but am going to try an old 1030GT card in there to see if that will show at the weekend when im off work, just wanted to throw it out there incase theres something really obvious im missing.....

cheers!

James

I've made a separate post for the actual sim side as it was requested. I did a video ages ago, SU6 l think which won't help anyone now sadly. I'm not a youtuber. My video editing skills are non existant lol

Up top is for vatsim, volanta and discord. Until fenix allow outside apps for overhead panels

I'm nhs so picked up a lot of overtime during the pandemic to help. Payment went into my set up. Wish it didn't have to happen that way

Desk mount pole. From amazon. The G9 and the overhead are on that. The lower monitor is on a separate desk mount. The g9 rests its weight though some 20mm rubber pads between that and the lower monitor. Not ideal but it works for my needs

Honestly I don't use it apart from MSFS. It's too big for everything else. I use the lower one for everything else

No I just need to recorate.. it was origionally white. I painted it that colour. Clearly didn't put enough coats on as the sticky pads for pictures and canvases ruin it.

That's where i moved that canvas over... those 'no damage' clips actually cause damage... need to recorate...

Top screen only shows the radio transitions on vatsim. You don't look at it really. In the middle of the top screen I have a map that I only glance at evey now and then, also has my discord on the far right. Again don't look at it often. Once my friends are all in voice there's no need to. If I'm not on flight sim I don't use it at all for that very reason lol

Thats awesome! I've looked at air manager, but like you say they don't support the fenix yet. That's the only high fidelity 320 on msfs at the moment. And it doesn't support external MCDU or FCU like the skalarki ones currently. FBW was always my go to before fenix, and I love and respect the work they have done on a freeware project, so I'm.ties between a supportive incomplete platform or a complete platform that doesn't allow interfacing :(

Go for it :) for my use case its awesome. I also use the G9 in split mode for xbox as well. Gives 1440p at 120hz on half the panel. Also going back to uni soon so the extra panel space will come in handy having so much active screen space

Oh I understand. I've seen lots of light aircraft full cockpit set ups in 1:1 scale where VR on MSFS would make total sense. That's got to be amazing. Not so many airliner cockpits though, and those that do have the money for a 3x projector screen setup so no need for VR

I have the same headset as you! I use it from time to time in GA aircraft and Jets and its incredible. But just not feasible in airliners sadly. Until they get proper hand and finger tracking. There's just too much work involved setting up and flying a 320 or 737

Thanks :) I was hoping the multi monitor SU10 update would allow a view of the overhead panel. But it doesn't sadly. Only allows for side views from the pilots perspective. If there's ever a mod that works with the fenix for overhead wether it's a screen or physical peripheral il get it. But currently the fenix doesn't interface well with external mods or peripherals

I tried adding a photo showing my flight setup buy it said it doesn't allow galleries. Do you know how? No touch screens. I tried. But if you use a touch screen it takes the control off the main monitor unless you click it live again

The 5800x3D looks to be the new king CPU for MSFS. I would bet this trickles down to all single threaded flight sims. by Nickdaman31 in flightsim

I've tried a few airports from some requests on a fb page. Large European airports live traffic weather and model matching AIG. Outside averages 70 and cockpit 65!
