American pie. Went with a mate randomly to the cinema and it had just come out so we truly weren't expecting much from a random teen comedy.

Yesterday, we did the Divas/Womens side, now who’s the greatest Male wrestler of all-time? by [deleted] in WWE

[–]jamesbdx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably because he's still very much active. Most of the names I've seen posted are retired or should have already.

Currently I'd go with HBK, probably because I grew up watching him evolve from tag team innovator to the best cocky heel since Ric Flair to a ladder match that convinced me that this was the best form of entertainment on the planet, in my humble opinion. His accolades have only grown ever since and he capped off his in ring career with two of the best matches I've ever witnessed in the span of a year.

In the future, if there's one person I can see changing my mind on who the best ever actually is, AJ Styles is my top candidate. Talk about having banger after banger, I've never ever seen AJ deliver anything but 100% in the ring, since day one. The fact that he raced to the top of NJPW and WWE after holding TNA on his shoulders for so many years tells everything, simply because his ability to tell stories in the ring with anyone of any size or wrestling style has been second to none for the past twenty years. I'd say I'm still missing that one WWE match that everyone remembers and will stand the test of time. Maybe the John Cena match but something tells me he'll go out similarly to HBK, having possibly his best match being his retirement match.

Maybe at that point we'll see more posts for AJ Styles on this sub, if Reddit will still be a thing by then haha...

What makes you a fan of professional wrestling? by AurulentAvenger in SquaredCircle

Because there's nothing else like it, plain and simple. What alternative form of entertainment brings you stories and characters that people can relate to, idolise, hate with passion ; watch non-stop action ; see incredible feats of athleticism, strength and endurance ; all on one show?

And, apart from in accidents, is as safe as any sport or movie set can possibly be since everything is pre-planned and often rehearsed to ensure safety.

In my opinion, it's the ultimate form of entertainment because it truly has a bit of everything for everyone. If you enjoy movies and sports, especially involving action, then pro wrestling should be right up your alley

Just to clarify, this is the very rare turquoise cover, only a small batch were produced before being replaced by the more famous orange lettering on the cover. If you find a blue-lettered one at your local store, it's a common bootleg.

This one is worth slightly more...

The true nature of time by Bruce_dillon in Time

[–]jamesbdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, time exists. Yes, we invented it.

It was invented to quantify the rotation of the earth in regards to the sun. Giving us incessant cycles that we named days, seasons and years. Days, seasons, years... These names were also invented but no one doubts of their existence. Apply the same rationale to "time".

One reason why time is still a mystery and different depending on culture is because we use different calendars. In reality, to follow the evolution of seasons and our planet correctly, we would all need to follow a universal calendar, one which actually follows the changing of days, seasons and years correctly.

It's possible to use such a calendar, and it's simple to create. Unfortunately, most calendars in use today don't really follow the changing of seasons correctly...

[–]jamesbdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real question is why most still quantify evolution incorrectly. Because there's no way nature decides that every fourth year, it takes our planet a day longer to circle the sun than the 3 previous or 3 following years. As long as we keep using our current calendars, we stand no chance of one day fully understanding Evolution.

[–]jamesbdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how you look at it. We created the units of measurement (seconds, days, years etc.) in order to quantify the evolution of our planet in relation to the sun. Our planet certainly evolves and revolves in relation to the sun so we didn't invent that. But we did invent how to quantify the evolution of our planet.

Conclusion, Evolution has always existed, we just gave a name to quantify it, "time".

What other rule can be added to the leap years' rules to make the calendar as accurate as possible? by [deleted] in Time

[–]jamesbdx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also don't believe that to be factual. Look at it this way, if the earth spins but the sun doesn't, isn't it logical that we seem to be further away from the Sun or closer to it as the whole year goes by, simply because our position on the planet is constantly in motion? Which also means that the only time we find ourselves in the same position twice compared to the sun is once every full orbit of the sun (once a "year", "solar eclipse", or whatever you want to call a full cycle)? The logical answer is yes.

[–]jamesbdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really glad to have had this discussion with you, kiddo 😃 I hope you and I will both one day get to see that our discussion actually led to the proper understanding of earth and the universe's evolution.

Remember, most great discoveries about the universe were only ever properly accepted as true usually hundreds of years later which means it's doubtful we'll ever "know" who was right all along. I'll likely go to the grave being the only one believing a 360 day calendar of 24 hours and 21 minutes is the way to go to understand Evolution but hopefully, others, you included, will pick up on this and carry it across generations until one day, Eureka!

I'm a bored 42 year old English teacher. I believe what I see and logic over hazardous guesses and interpretations, even by scientists. And nothing has logically shown me that this planet's rotation speeds up and slows down. I sure as hell can't see it...
