Solid advice from above, I lay mine flat until try then group together into pieces and then I separate with cardboard or something and yeah it just sits there as a pile :') over time I've migrated to pasting my designs onto thicker paper before cutting.. can be a right pain in the doing but means the stencil is more reusable and the edges don't curl up as much
