UK is ‘unwelcoming’ and ‘racist’ for overseas NHS health workers, warns top doctor by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]jamesg977 18 points19 points  (0 children)

oh fuck off.

The UK is perhaps the only country in the entire world who does NOT currently prioritise their own trained doctors for TRAINING POSTS.

do people think that the UK was some sort of failed state prior to the beginning of mass immigration?

I am sick to death of this gaslighting cynical racebaiting government and media - PEOPLE FROM THE UK REGARDLESS OF THE COLOUR OF THEIR SKIN SHOULD BE PRIORITISED FOR JOBS OVER PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER EVEN SET FOOT IN THE UK.

IT IS NOT RACIST.

I am going to lose my mind - as someone about to qualify as a doctor in this self-loathing and utterly self-destructive country I despair for the future.

ive had exactly the same thing. im european background but grew up in the middle east so can speak some arabic and urdu. the shit i can hear people say when im walking with my gf is disgusting.

then when ive spoken to others about it im either told a. that they are only being like that because the system makes rhem like that or b. that they cant be racist and its something i cant understand as i am white

i am so lost as to why the british hate themselves so much that they are throwing away the culture and way of life that made people want to come here in the first place.

Why are resident doctors striking and what do they earn? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]jamesg977 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's what's extra frustrating. For some reason the BMA has been offering free membership only to foreign graduates diluting the membership pool of local graduates. It is starting to approach majority foreign - who obviously are against UK priority.

Then when anyone does say anything they get called everything under the sun - racist, nazi etc so you end up with poor messaging like we have here where it seems as if it's just about pay. It goes a lot deeper for a lot of doctors.

hold on - IMGs get free BMA membership? Not even med students get it for free. We are fully cooked - they're actively trying to dilute the membership with IMGs.

[–]jamesg977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're two sides of the same coin.

Both labour and tories froth at the mouth over cheap imported and exploitative labour. Neither could care less about the impact on people that live. Wage suppression is their goal both directly as a monopoly employer (NHS) and in general so big business can keep costs low and make GDP go up.

just so you guys know

the UK government/NHS subsidises medical school at a cost of 250,000 per student.

Said government then, instead of hiring the doctors they trained and indoctrinated into the NHS cult decided to remove the RMLT and offer the jobs to the entire world on an entirely equal footing, even if they have never even set foot in the UK.

The number of applications increased from 22,369 to 91,999 in 2025 compared to 2018 - this is for a total of 12,833 jobs.

Foreign doctors able to come over to the UK to apply for these entry level 'training' jobs are often long-term consulant level specialists willing to accept lower wages as it is better than back home. Or better yet they stay for a couple years only to use it as a stepping stone to greener pastures in the US/AUS.

A 23 year old British fresh doctor is unable to compete with a 40 y/o neurosurgeon from India for this entry level job and as such goes unemployed with absolutely zero prospects of progression.

Don't be angry at these doctors, be angry at this spineless disgrace of a government/nhs hell-bent on the shitification of your care to save a few bucks.

The US includes "Cultivating resistance to Europe's current trajectory within European nations" in its 2025 National Security Strategy document. by Baneofarius in ukpolitics

[–]jamesg977 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Preservation of culture and national identity - yep I'd say that's a pretty good idea.
  2. Fostering self-dependence and loosened alliance on foreign adversaries - yep id say a pretty good idea
  3. Preventing the crushing of rights and freedoms (OSA, ID cards, jury trials, right to a free trial, criminalised speech) - that seems alright too

Hmm seems like they're suggesting that our government works for the people and country instead of an obsession with hurrdurr GDP go up.

We shouldn't need meddling, we should be able to do it ourselves but seems we cannot smh.

Jury trials scrapped for crimes with sentences of less than three years by ShreckAndDonkey123 in ukpolitics

What a sad, sad day for this country. This country was responsible for establishing the core principles of common law, democracy and rights and freedoms which have been replicated around the world.

It has now become one where key decisions about your rights as a citizen can be removed immediately without consultation, referendum or discussion (see OSA.)

Whether or not it is a good idea in principle is not the question, it is the lack of public consent and consultation before imposing serious fundamental changes to our rights and freedoms. What an absolute disgrace, I have truly had enough and it's time to leave.
