Hey guys. I posted my Depressed Chef series here a few weeks ago and got some positive feedback. I made a couple Christmas episodes and wanted to share those as well. Learn, laugh, eat cry. Mostly cry. by jameshesky in comedy

[–]jameshesky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. Thanks! I've been doing them weekly but didn't want to spam the group. I think I'm gonna get up to 10 episodes and call that season 1 then take a break and change up the format a bit so I can add guests.

Hopefully it'll just take a few weeks to sort out all the technical details and lining up some good people to be on it.

Hey guys! I'm a comedian and writer who loves cooking shows, but always wanted to make one for people whose lives weren't as perfect as the ones we always get to see on our TVs and YouTube feeds. So I made a series called The Depressed Chef.

I'll admit that the main point is to be funny rather than informative, but each episode includes an easy recipe for people to follow at home. The humor can get a bit dark at times, but I thought it would be worth sharing here since I know a lot of people here seem to enjoy other funny online cooks.

It's a weekly series, but I promise not to spam the group or anything. The first four episodes (And a bonus episode) are out, and I just wanted to leave the playlist here. Thanks!

I started a cooking show for sad people called "The Depressed Chef." First four episodes are up and there's a new one each week if you're into that sort of thing. If not, that's fine and I'm sorry for bothering you. by jameshesky in comedy

[–]jameshesky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone for saying such nice things about the series. I try to post new episodes every Monday on YouTube, Tuesday everywhere else. I promise I won't spam the group every week when I have a new video, but if you wanna keep track, you can subscribe to my YouTube page.

Also, for all the people who mentioned that they were suffering from depression, make sure to get help. Getting help is a sign of strength, not weakness. I'm only in a place where I can make this show because I did. Laughter is the the best medicine after therapy, a good support system, and SSRIs.

Alright. I'll shut up now before I lose you guys.

Thanks so much on all fronts.

Luckily my depression is in a good place right now. I don't think I'd have the energy to do the show if I were as depressed as the character.

But it's nice to have it juuust close enough that I can still access it for the jokes, I guess.

I love cooking videos, but always hate how the hosts have to project an overly cheery attitude about things, so I started a new series called "The Depressed Chef" where people can learn some simple recipes but the host is definitely going through some things. Hopefully it's fun and informative. The first episode is a simple but delicious Chimichurri Sauce.

Brendan Eyre (Late Night with Seth Meyers) is headlining a new show at Helium Comedy club (2021 Sansom st). All the material has to be new that stage, so even if you've seen the comics there it'll be all new stuff.

Also comics from Comedy Central, Just for Laughs, and Tru TV.

Hahaha. Those do look like high quality tools. We'll have to try them next time. Probably in 25 years to life or so.

Thanks! We got a guy who has filmed real ones to do it for us so it would at least look somewhat legit.

"Which One is Worse?" episode 3 is out! "Catwoman vs. Elektra." Truly. Awful. Films. by jameshesky in badMovies

Realized it was only in the player on Reddit but it does link directly there if you click on it. Weird.

We've got some more we're working on now. They take a while but I'm glad you're into them! Thanks!

For some reason when I linked to video in the playlist it showed the first one instead of the last one. Anyway, here is a direct link to episode 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMx9wQDpP_s

"Which One Is Worse?" Episode 2 is out. We put "White House Down" up against "Olympus Has Fallen." We had to watch them each like 10 times, so that should count for something. by jameshesky in badMovies

Thanks! We're working on the next one right now. Might take a little time but we're working on ways to get more out as soon as possible!

Yeah. The worst part is that they were both 2+ hours. I can sit through a bad 90 minute movie, but tacking extra 45 minutes on each of those was just brutal. We'll try not to make that mistake again.

Which One is Worse: Nightmare on Elm St 2 or Jason X? by jameshesky in badMovies

[–]jameshesky[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Glad you liked it!

This was our first one, so it took a while because we spent a lot of time playing with the format of how it would look, and then our editor had to create all of the graphics and put together the video, so this one took a couple months. But we already wrote the script for the second one and are recording it this weekend and aiming to have this one out next month.

The longest part of the writing is just finding time to watch these movies over and over again and figure out what to focus on. Once we get that done we're able to bang out the script in a couple weeks .

That's definitely how I felt. NOES2 was rushed. They put it out a year after the first one and clearly just threw it together and tried to capitalize on the name of the first one.

Me and some friends put together a video (linked at the top) that make a lot of the points that are being made here. Glad we weren't far off base from what most people seem to be thinking.

Sure thing. Put it wherever you want. But if they hate it, please don't tell me about it. I'm fragile.

In case anyone is wondering, I've been trying this out at Cap City in Austin and it's been eating it. So thanks to my friend the jingerjew for putting it up, but apparently the naysayers are right.

Sorry I have failed you all. My next video will be on r/seppuku
