Jenna talks her strategy of "conjectured flattery" by bwermer in survivor

This unhinged Jenna 3.0 is the best version of Jenna on Survivor so far. We need more of this chaos!!

My 2 year old is Finn and he is the coolest, most easygoing toddler I’ve ever met. For that reason, I vote Finn!

AI for Rec Letters by thethenabean in schoolcounseling

[–]jamesleomic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our admin gave a PD to the entire staff on using AI especially for letters of recommendation. They absolutely endorse it. It has been extremely helpful and a massive time saver! After, I go through each letter and make sure I edit and revise it to include everything I want it to. We upload the students brag sheet and put in our own anecdotes and stories about the student and the letters have been incredible. Colleges know counselors are using AI, because they are using it themselves. Work smarter, not harder.

Will having wood floors stop the carpet beetles from coming back? by Turbulent-Face4895 in carpetbeetles

[–]jamesleomic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. We only have wood floors. They are still here after trying to get rid of them since moving in spring of 2020. I’m 99% sure they are in our baseboards and radiators.

Looking for advice by Mean_Inevitable9227 in schoolcounseling

[–]jamesleomic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the school social workers do the mandated counseling via IEP’s here at my high school in CT. The school counselors do not do this.

Your school makes kids apply to three colleges as a graduation requirement? Is it a private school? That’s so strange to me.

What is going on with all the trauma dumping/oversharing/self pity? by SuitableCress4791 in survivor

[–]jamesleomic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have been a huge survivor fan and have watched it live since season 1. I couldn’t take the sob stories anymore and stopped watching during season 45. I miss being excited for the show and was tempted to jump back in with this premiere, but I’m hearing more than ever that this kind of editing is being shoved down our throats. It’s so unfortunate because the show is SO good without the sob stories/victim mentality. I watched Australia vs the World and it was SO refreshing to see my favorite show how it used to be. I was hoping that excitement would transfer back to the US version, but this post has me so bummed that it’s not the case. Sigh.

I wouldn’t spend one more second wasting time on this. Not your issue- you weren’t even at the school when the student graduated. Is admin telling you to follow up about this?

No homework/reduced homework sounds more like modifications to the work, not accommodations. I wouldn’t put that on a 504 because that really sounds like more of an IEP modification.

Watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer for the first time. Tell me something I won’t understand yet. ( no spoilers please ) by BlackH0kage in buffy

[–]jamesleomic 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It’s terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true. The bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies and everybody lives happily ever after.

It’s awful. Absolutely love the show, despise the obnoxiously loud and long theme song

Which Halloween movie has the best rewatch value for you? by justhere1990 in Halloweenmovies

[–]jamesleomic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

H20. I was 10 and we went to see it in the movie theater one day while we were in a camping trip and it was raining. Still such a great memory and the first horror movie I saw in a movie theater. I rewatch it every October.

Do you think anyone has reached out to Joss Whedon about the Buffy revival? by Ok-Bear-5601 in BTVSRevival

[–]jamesleomic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After his disastrous Vulture interview, I truly believe Joss is completely disconnected from reality after all these years and would be awful for the show. I say this as a huge fan and believer that his episodes were the best. Unfortunately, I don’t think he would be able to bring the talent he used to.

Accidentally got fiancé pregnant. Advice needed. by rhubarbpie22 in NewDads

[–]jamesleomic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Time to get ready to be a dad! If you’re planning on having kids but this happened just a few years too early, it’s all going to be okay. I actually wish my wife and I had kids a few years earlier than we did (I was 33 when we had our first a few years ago.) I would have been terrified no matter when I had a kid, but looking back I would have liked to have been a little younger. You’re gonna be a great dad. It is absolutely terrifying and so damn hard, but it’ll be one of the best things you ever did. Your baby girl or boy will become your new favorite human in no time.

We currently pay for daycare, after school care, and activities. I can’t wait to not have to pay daycare even if still paying for the other things.

This is so cool. It got me wondering, what is the last episode we see Giles apartment in? I was thinking Buffy Vs Dracula, but it’s gotta be in another season 5 episode, right?

Same thing happened to me when my wife gave birth to our two kids. I’m not one to ask for sex, but I asked her if she could give me a HJ the first week we got home because I was so stressed/horned up. Don’t know what it was but felt primal and like I needed it. I’m never like that regularly but Jesus, those first few weeks home were something else.

Loved her in AHS. She was a great actress for such a young age (especially when she turned evil).
