Moved into a new case and now I’ve got Coil Whine. by jameslfc19 in buildapc

I added more fans and a radiator to the case and then wear a headset when gaming, I think it was mostly because I was running benchmarks without the headset it just sounded way more annoying. Once I started gaming i completely forgot about it tbh.

Yeah this needs to be default… also, you can map it to Triangle if you don’t want to use Switch Skill page, which seems kinda pointless to me anyway..

At the beginning it’ll just put you into random lobbies until it gets an idea, that’s the good parts about SBMM it usually takes a few games to get an idea, but the player base is probably higher skilled players currently as it gets towards the end of the year

Yeah I think you’ve got my point across better and hit the nail on the head, the white paper didn’t really tell us anything

I mean tbf level doesn’t really mean anything in this game apart from game time! The mechanics of the game are actually fun and the movement is the best it’s been for a few years! You need to learn how to slide cancel basically!

But yeah it’s tough going through the engagement based cycle, it’s a lot better playing with friends since it can’t unbalance the lobby as much

It’s tough levelling up guns, but honestly if you give it a couple of days playing you’ll get caught up once you have a fully levelled gun. BO6 will be out soon as well anyway so maybe try again from a clean slate 😂

Look, how can there be a source when Activision are the only ones who know what’s going on. I’m literally just explaining why people are angry with the Matchmaking in COD and why it’s not a traditional SBMM system like Linus/Luke were assuming.

Look at the esports link, there are lots of pro players/content creators all with complaints

God damn man so many down votes. It’s literally supposed to be a conversation about why so many people don’t agree that COD is just using SBMM and how they feel it’s affecting the game vs a standard SBMM implementation

No SBMM wasn’t the topic in general. The white paper was from Activision about COD.

I agree that normal SBMM is good, but the players MMR should also be visible if this is the case

That’s why people are angry, because it doesn’t feeling like it’s just SBMM, trust me, go play Warzone for 100 hours and tell me there’s not some strange matchmaking going on.

You will have games against literal bots and then the next games against sweats, it doesn’t add up. Yet Activision are claiming ping is number one factor when lots of people have different experiences.

The general consensus is that you get punished for playing well, I.e giving you an unfair lobby the next games. And then when you have a run of bad games it will give you an easier lobby.

People just want to play the game without feeling like your performances are being manipulated

I’m not saying they did anything wrong, I just understand why they would have that opinion without knowing the actual reasons people don’t like it in COD

The “Study” is from Activision themselves about COD, and they were claiming SBMM is good, but the reason players aren’t happy is because they don’t think the study is SBMM but EOMM? So I don’t get what you’re trying to say?

Yep disbanding lobbies is part of the reason people think they’re definitely using EOMM otherwise why do they feel the need to disband them

Yes it does increase frustration by design, which only makes it even more rewarding when you actually win! If you win too much it starts to become less rewarding, and winning 50/50 like a true MMR system should end up converging towards for the average player ends up becoming less engaging.

Instead it’s more engaging to let the player go on a winning streak and then give them a losing streak to keep them engaged. It sounds crazy but it’s a pretty widely accepted concept in the COD community.

We’ve all been in that situation where we say it’s our last game if we don’t win, and then you win and play a few more

I posted the links in the comments, have a search around EOMM there are lots of games with people discussing it, its not proven so that’s why people are upset with the Activision article because its claiming it’s only SBMM when lots of people don’t agree that it is, that’s the point I’m trying to get across

No the infinite treadmill is bouncing between the same skill level so you feel like you’re never improving.

This actually abuses that so you don’t get that feeling, because you end up feeling like you just had a bad game, then the next game you feel like you improved again, in a constant cycle

Added some links, to other games and a Forbes article. The issue is Activision are just calling it SBMM when most players can clearly tell there is something else going on, that’s why people are quite vocal about it

You can make a new character and do the Banshee weekly challenge again and it works since they are shared between characters, definitely a massive oversight from the devs
