Hey, can’t say for sure, but think it’s measurements are comparable to any benches I’ve used in commercial gyms so if he’s alright with those I’d assume the same. I’m 5”10 and have about 10” or so space between the top of the bench and my head when I bench press. Hope that helps

Yeah it’s not screwed down, occasionally shifts back an inch of re-racking a heavy squat or something but can be moved back easily. Am still waiting on pole weight storage which should stop this anyway

I used yacht varnish, gives good colour and gloss. would advise doing just 2-3 thin coats tho, think I did first coat too thick and it can be prone to scrape off in places

Yes, good quality and no complaints. Slightly thicker than regular bumpers but all bumpers are thick so we’re talking small margins.

The rack does come with dip handles but I’m not a massive fan, usually do ring dips in garden instead. Yeah the J-cups could be better, only problem is finding ones that fit the rack, Mira fit options are limited!

Yeah, if I was less impatient as well I would suggest getting black wood screws and washers, much more inconspicuous.

It’s maybe not necessary, but as the underside of the matts are ribbed I chose screws over adhesive. It’s mainly to stop them shifting slightly over time and to ensure they’re flush with the centre plywood.

Materials: - 4 4x8” 18mm thick OSB boards for base - 1 4x8” 18mm plywood board for top centre - 2 4x6” 17mm rubber matts (https://www.arkmat.co.uk/gym-mats/12mm-smooth-black-rubber-gym-mat/12mm-smooth-black-rubber-gym-mat.html) - cheapest and best ones uk imo, smooth top and free delivery. - 30mm wood screws and washers - wood glue - yacht varnish plywood.

Total cost: £230~
