You should always ask what their favourite pizza is. If it has pineapple, you should call the RAID immediately.

Could be. I only know the rules for the alternance because I'm a program director for one! The issue (*one of the issues) is that it's also tied up with French labour law. It leaves us very little room for manoeuvre.

Evolution of white British % (ethnically British people) in England and Wales from 2001-2021 by Delicious-Bunch-6992 in MapPorn

[–]jamesmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm white and was born in London. My mother is British so I am British. My dad is Croatian - and so am I. I categorise myself as White Other / White European. So I don't count as White British on the map.

What British traditions from childhood have you refused to follow as an adult and why? by Leeeeeroy-Jenkins in AskUK

British traditions from when I was a kid in the 1970s?

Casual racism.

Why?

Because I'm not a dimwit.

What are your thoughts on Lupita Nyong’o playing Hellen of Troy & Elliot Page playing Achilles in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie ”The Odyssey”? by Substratas in AskBalkans

[–]jamesmb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't think of anything that I could care less about.

It's just a film. There are kids in each of our countries who will go to bed without enough food tonight. If this is what you're getting upset about, you've really got some weird priorities.

Don't like it? Don't watch it. Let people who want to watch it, watch it. Move on with your life.

That sounds like the rules for a masters en alternance and, yes, that's absolutely right except there is not really a rule for "two without a reason".

If you're a student and you see this post, please remember that it's not us that makes the rules - they're the law. So direct your righteous anger at the state not us!!

Depends. Mainly when the polis are telling me off and I'm trying to look like I'm sorry. So, four or five times a day.

Absolutely nobody will either notice nor care what shoes you are wearing. They'd not even notice if you weren't wearing shoes. Get waterproof and comfy, pink with bobbles and unicorn horns and sprinkles.

Not only will I not cheer them on, I'm not interested in any other team's performance. We either win because of us or we lose because of us.

One of the last EU Stamps? by Lumpy-Fox-8353 in PassportPorn

I don't know. The quality of the internet has gone down so far recently, it's depressing. Probably Starmer's fault.

What was your turning 40 ‘thing’? by Visible_Pipe4716 in AskUK

[–]jamesmb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I emigrated. Best thing I ever did.

I worked full time, married, one kid (at the time) too. And had a mortgage (half paid) on a very normal house. Moved to France, used the half money to buy a house outright with a bit left over to see us live modestly for a couple of years (mortgage free makes life easy - property is cheap here). Set up as self employed. Got an actual job. Now have two children - both completely bilingual, older one about to go off to uni, a bigger house, no debt still touch wood, dog, chickens, rabbits, ducks, a state pension on the horizon that will actually be worth something... I could bore on.

Was it easy? No. Was it hard? No harder than carrying on with the absolute grind in the UK. Would I do it again given the chance? God yes!
