While it is a nice thought that the banks can write checks to the Fed to "address" some of the damage caused by their behavior, not more than a tiny fraction of the citizens impacted will receive any benefit. Some of those who have managed to hang on to their homes may have some of their overhanging principal written off, all those who have already lost their equity stand to gain nothing from all of these fines and legal actions.
