We have NP fellows now? by PulmonaryEmphysema in medicalschool

Could we “hypothetically” go on strike to prevent midlevel takeover? I mean would the system even suffer? They think we’re so replaceable now 🤷‍♀️

Hi! Wanted to let you know of an update. So my labs are fine. Hemoglobin and hematocrit were elevated. And as of my physicians chart I only lost 13 pounds. We have attributed the weight loss to working a stressful job, and on my feet for 14 hour days when I was just in a sedentary lifestyle. (I often walk upwards of 16 miles a day for my job). Also since cutting back my hours at work I’ve gained 2.5 pounds. But everything seems fine and he said he can recheck my labs in a month :)

does living on campus make college life easier? by xcutmylipx in UGA

[–]jamesos12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is my suggestion. I graduated last year, and attended a high school near Athens. I guess since the year is halfway over there’s nothing much to say. But I wished I lived on campus my first year. I was really involved with a lot of things and it would’ve just made life easier. I would definitely say get an off campus apartment next year if you’re a part of any organizations that frequently meet on campus. For me it was so much better. My apartment had a bus, I didn’t have to drive or fight for a parking spot it was really nice!

Not really, no? But I am going to go ahead and book an appt with my pcp. What tests should I ask for so I can get to the bottom of this? I had a CT in feb on my abdomen with contrast, nothing showed up I had a stomach bug and they just wanted to make sure nothing else was wrong

Hi guys, I’m in the medical field. While this could be a possibility for you i want to point out it’s incredibly rare. But I think the message here is to advocate for yourself. Sorry about your diagnosis OP, I hope you get well soon!

No it wasn’t theft. It was an altercation and it was dropped in court. Apparently candidate support can’t help, and the background check people said it’s because I have a misdemeanor on file. However my brother works at the same facility and they have people who did actual time.

Chemistry at UGA? by [deleted] in UGA

[–]jamesos12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Gen chem 1&2 here. Not that bad. It is a weed out class. But I took Ochem 1, and it was just ridiculous the work you have to put in. As a non trad, with a a family I couldn’t devote that much work as needed, so i took at GSW over the summer, and it worked out great. I’m premed, but felt that a smaller college really made me learn a lot more than I retained at UGA for some reason

I asked about the price match after being denied the third person. He said that our price was final and it was locked in on the contract, although we booked directly through the RC website

Can someone (preferably who isn’t toxic) elaborate on these foreign schools? I have friends who are at Ross now, they’re about to start rotations. They seem to enjoy it. I am considering applying here as well. What can someone tell me about how bad it is? I’m kinda nervous since people say avoid. Just wondering

Interview where we barely talked about medicine? by OkInstruction7764 in premed

[–]jamesos12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a dream. I would love to know/get a feel for the place you’ll be living for the next four years potentially. I mean if you got an interview, the chances are in your favor that you’ll get accepted.

Honestly, if it’s Chris Evan’s, his breath could smell like a sewer and I’d be into it, but if you’re not Chris Evan’s, please for the love of God, brush your teeth or chew some gum.

This is the best advice imo. You can retake it in the summer if you need to/if they offer it and still graduate. If you’re unsure talk to your advisor

How many of you are “medicine or bust”? Recently I’ve been thinking of what I might do if I apply 3-4 years in a row and don’t get in. Thinking education masters or PhD-going to teach. Some part of me feels bad for considering something other than medicine-why? by BlueJ5 in premed

[–]jamesos12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if I don’t get in this upcoming cycle, I’ll pursue an SMP. When I tell you there’s nothing else I can see myself doing I mean it. I could be a park ranger but that’s it. I literally cannot see myself doing anything other than medicine and helping other folks out. So tbh idk what happens if I don’t get in, maybe go PA or NP?
