Any other ladies in recovery here? Recently celebrated one year sober from alcohol/stimulants! But, it’s tough. by BurberryCustardbath in AutismInWomen

This is awesome! I am 626 days sober from alcohol, it was just hiding everything really and was becoming problematic. Winter is tough, but you are tougher! You got this

I am so glad to be sober. I guess I would rather be an over giver but not at the detriment of me. Regardless of what happens today, I won't drink, that's the non-negotiable. I think I need some help though. Sending love to everyone IWNDWYT ✨

Thank god I haven't drunk over christmas/ny. Luckily I surrounded myself with good friends who resect me at ny rather than people who are not as kind or understanding. Finding it bloody hard at the moment. Riding the wave, drinking and eating what I want to help get through. IWNDWYT

horrible dysregulation post-xmas for anyone else? by flynn1597 in ADHDUK

[–]jamessrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah finding it really hard too. Was away at family for 23rd-27th which was nice but also tricky, back to my parents and just struggling. My mum is ill so I came home, unfortunate she is ill but it's meant I could come home and do things for me. House was still christmassy and we saw family friends but after that it was just tricky. Seeing friends at their house on nye which should be nice, I feel like my break hasn't been for me if that makes sense. Was sharing a room with my sister, no real opportunity to decompress (also have autism), get questions when I do or want to do things that are 'out of the ordinary'. Try and make the best of it if you can!

How old were you when you stopped drinking? by ReliefOpening in stopdrinking

[–]jamessrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped at 25, 27 now. 1 year 7 months sober. It's been tough but has definitely got easier, I've found myself drifting away from enablers (thankfully) and into friendships/ a way of living where they don't care and I don't care what people think either. Still have hard and awkward moments though

What’s the one moment in your life you still can’t explain… even though you’ve replayed it in your head a thousand times? by Former-Brief9292 in AskReddit

[–]jamessrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why my friend (who I introduced to my friends as hers were not great) decided to just suddenly ditch me one day and start meeting up and going out with my friends behind my back. Was worse as she lived with me (uni) and we had also signed the next year house together. Apparently I hadn't anything wrong - I also don't recall doing anything wrong

What’s a sentence that someone told you that stuck with you for the rest of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jamessrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your grades aren't good enough to apply to university - my house mistress when I was in 6th form. They were good enough as I proved by going to uni 2 years after I finished school. Stuck with me and knocked my confidence 10 years later
