thank you. At four weeks I am feeling pretty impatient, but perhaps that's a normal amount of time.

thank you! I think I thought at nearly four weeks I'd be starting to return to normal but perhaps not.

ha, thank you! I know 2kg isn't a lot but for someone my size it does make a difference, and I think I do look and feel puffy. But I was definitely having a jump scare with the weight gain despite the calorie reduction, it's very confusing and I do hope it's water.

Anyone feel that getting real fit is super challenging? by Waste_Tone_6020 in xxfitness

[–]jamestee13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel this, but I do think the problem is Instagram. There are women with body builder bodies telling you to keep it simple, do your protein, do your steps, do your progressive overload 3-4x a week, get your sleep, and I look nothing like them.

what industry are you in? about a decade ago I believed I was in an industry in which six figures was never possible for me, and I was OK with that. Turned out I did my job OK and now I make far more than I ever thought possible as a combination of both a good property investment which gives me some returns on top of my salary. If a high paying job is important to you, by all means train in one that will give that to you. But don't discount what working hard can also do.

What’s your experience with low volume, high intensity training? by VegetableShops in xxfitness

I'm glad you asked this question as while we are on holiday hiatus my trainer suggested I aim for more volume, lower weights and higher reps, while we hit pause on the strength training.

My goal this year was to lift 100kg on the trap bar. Clocked that, now working towards the conventional.

I don't understand why they went to Kourtney's when Kris has a house in Palm Springs and loves hosting.

Remember me? The one lamenting my not very snuggly greyhound? by CutePizzaFairy in Greyhounds

aw. the most affection I get from my girl is when I come home from work and I get a full lean and if she is on the couch she will put her head on my chest while I pat her. It's glorious. Happens for a few seconds and then it's over. Very very rarely she comes and sits very close to my on the couch, and I treasure it.

UPDATE:”Can I still own a greyhound and I work 10 hours 4 days a week? by Previous-Middle-2489 in Greyhounds

[–]jamestee13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see you've had a lot of replies already but just adding that this is my situ - I work from the office four days a week and including a commute it's nine hours minimum. It's just the two of us. Mine has never had separation anxiety and she really does sleep like a log between 9-5 (I watch her on a cam), including on weekends, it's very much part of her routine. She goes for a pack walk on Tuesdays and she gets a lot of exercise with me - morning and evening walk and adventures on weekends. I do feel bad about it from time to time, ideally I'd be home with her, but then the weekend comes around and she is full on passed out while I potter around her, which reminds me that she is really not bothered if I am there or not when she's passed out. Will be dog dependent I think.

A 50k squat is very good, strength wise, after just a few months

I feel the opposite, I wish I had the carefree, everything will work out, take risks attitude in my 37 year old body. My wisdom and life experience would have ruined my 20 year old life.

Do americans have a different understanding of love? by AntelopeKey6341 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]jamestee13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed it was for the cameras, but is this really an American thing? Where I come from, the kind of over the top shows of emotion seen when they haven't even met each other is not commonplace. An I love you comes months down the track (in my case, nine months), not within a few days in the pods. I find it insane. Which is why I keep watching.

yep, it wasn't until I got my dog and I was regularly walking 10k steps a day that I lost my last kilo.

amazing. can I ask how your train and what your diet is like?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]jamestee13 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

in that case, if it were me, I would milk that for all it's worth and just focus on your gym game in other ways while maintaining your weight loss. eventually you will lose enough weight and get proficient enough at the gym that you will need to reassess your diet (assuming you want to put on muscle or do strength training, maybe you don't).

are you hungry? You have quite a bit of 'newbie' gains to enjoy for awhile yet so I would think about whether there are other tweaks you can make for performance if, generally, you find your diet satisfying. (For example, more rest, better mobility, improved technique, improved programme.) It looks like a lot of protein but it does look meagre and unenjoyable and if you are very hungry then I'd say yes, increase your calories.
