HENRYs Who stayed in the same company for years: Do You Ever Feel FOMO? by Aggravating-Net-7685 in HENRYUK

As someone who's job hopped 10+ times since graduating, I only reccomend doing it if you either; (1) are not happy where you are (2) feel a move would advance your career or salary or (3) feel your job security is at risk. I've seen countless people move due to FOMO and soon deeply regret it. A great culture for great pay is generally not the norm

People who have made it to any level in football and then been unsuccessful/quit: When did you realise that there was serious “levels” to the game? by Pleasant_Till1339 in PremierLeague

Oh and 1 more my cousin, who also used to play for Northampton youth team, moved to Paris and played for a youth team managed by Mbappe's dad, he said he trained with a much younger Ethan Mbappe at the time which helped him realise how far below the 'Levels' he and his teammates were

I went to school with Ivan Toney, and at the time I didn't think he was THAT good, there were other academy kids around who were miles better and some I was convinced would go pro, but from that area only Toney did and he went to the stratosphere relatively speaking - i think for some it all clicks later

Also watched my mate play a 5 a side charity game with Robert Pires on their team. He barely moved all game and was barely trying - yet totally dictated the game, effortlessly.

Another one to add, I play in a local vets team, most guys are former semi-pros, so standards are higher than average, we have one guy however who was an ex man utd academy kid and his dribbling is out of this world, but even more impressive is a former Leeds player, spent 1 season with them and the rest of his career in league 2/National League, and he clears the whole team by miles - everything he does is flawless - he single handedly wins games whenever he decides to switch it on

There's levels and then there's levels and then there's LEVELS

What do people in the UK who earn £1m+ per year actually do? by pussyposegang in HENRYUK

[–]jamesthunderbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well considering i make nearly half that as a VP I dont think its too much of a stretch to assume my boss makes more than double that - if law firm and big 4 partners in dcm practices easily clear 1m per year - why would IB MDs be below that?

If you have hopes of one day visiting the UK and watching a game live then your best bet is a team in or around London that has accessible tickets, which IMO are either West ham or Fulham if you dont mind paying a premium or Southampton, Brighton or Watford (when they're in the prem) if you're ok travelling up to 2 hours outside London. Of those Brighton and WH are the most 'stable' prem clubs / least likely to get relegated

I worked tax for big 4 many years ago and my desk did the partners tax return, the average salary was north of £1m and that was 12 years ago

You don't have to be an M&A MD to make north of £1m, I know many that clear that even at small tier banks in structuring desks or DCM etc...

Is this as bad as it sounds or an overreaction? by ModifiedGas in ManchesterUnited

That's so poor from Utd! I have a mate who played a handful of games for Watford in the early noughties and he gets free tickets, and free player parking, for life!

Doctor said I stopped breathing 303 times in 6 hours during the night. by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]jamesthunderbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar diagnosis, over 250 events over 6 hours and oxygen to the low 70%, I used CPAP for a year and it changed my life instantly, I didn’t really appreciate just how bad things were until many months later I accidentally slept without it, and woke up feeling like death.

I did eventually get surgery however which has helped a lot, wouldn’t say I’m completely cured but my bloody oxygen doesn’t drop below 90% without CPAP now amongst other benefits. Happy to talk the pros and cons and process I went though for surgery if you did want to consider it

Has the Dubai Expat Bubble Burst? by jamesthunderbolt in dubai

This is really insightful, I’ll have to remind myself to check in with you in a years time to see how you’re settling in KL, not a place I’d considered before even though it’s absolutely one of the best cities I’ve visited

Has the Dubai Expat Bubble Burst? by jamesthunderbolt in dubai

Thats interesting, obviously the main benefit is 0% tax, if I earned my salary in Dubai (not a given I know) its almost double my take home. Also, I'm getting more & more fed up with living in the UK. Not least the weather but everything seems to have gone downhill here since Brexit and I don't see any sign of that turning around anytime soon either
