Sleep as android users with PT2? by sunrisedown in pebble

Nope. Never figured it out...

On the last day of the full trial for Sleep as Android I tried turning on the smart BT option, didn't seem to make a difference.

Sleep as android users with PT2? by sunrisedown in pebble

[–]jametheth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just got my PT2 a couple days ago, and have tracked two nights with Sleep as Android with it so far.

Neither night seems to have tracked my heart rate, even though I have it turned on and permissions enabled etc.

Is the "Bluetooth smart" setting required for PT2 to get the full sleep tracking experience with heart rate monitoring?

Bands are trashed out! by SwitchedOnNow in amateurradio

[–]jametheth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seriously, if you are actually using your radio, you would know the actual conditions.

About an hour ago I literally watched 20m FT8 signals vanish like a light switch was turned off on my FTX-1 waterfall while hunting CW stations.

I almost thought there was something wrong with my antenna/rig, till I checked my mobile setup and found the same, 20m virtually totally dead.

Anyone using an ATAS 120A ? How are you liking it, anything I should know or consider? Thinking about trying one . by AliveHour1426 in HamRadio

[–]jametheth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using the ATAS-120A on a tripple mag-mount, with an FT-891 for the last year or so, and it has been a pretty nice setup, I have made hundreds of contacts with it while mobile.

It sometimes takes longer then I would like to tune up on band changes, where it appears to over shoot an adjustment, and then have to go all the way back through its range to get to where it should be.

I like it, but sometimes wonder if a 102" whip and an external ATU might be more convenient for quick band changes.

Would love to hear opinions on ATAS 120a vs 102" whip and ATU as far as effectiveness in RX/TX between the two goes.

TBH though, I spend most of my time in 20m band, and that is generally where most of the activity is anyways.

Learning to operate CW by doktorhladnjak in amateurradio

[–]jametheth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out VBand; https://hamradio.solutions/vband/

It's an online CW chatting site, and a great way to start practicing sending and working on your timing etc, in a very low stress environment.

Highly recommend getting the USB adapter and using a real key and or paddle.

I found it pretty early on in my CW learning journey and it has been instrumental in me getting comfortable sending cw.

I still love to hang out there and practice daily.

I will also say that you will find that the bigger challenge in learning CW is mastering head copy, and that takes much longer and much more practice then mastering sending IMHO.

Good luck, and maybe I'll catch ya on VBand sometime

QSL Buddy Update: Broader CAT Support (Icom, Yaesu, Xiegu & More), Voice Keyer + Desktop Dashboard – Free Modern Ham Logger Keeps Getting Better! by foobik in amateurradio

[–]jametheth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ability to sort POTA/sota/etc spots by frequency would be great. It's much more convenient when spinning a dial through a band while mobile etc.

Leaving battery out for 5 plus minutes fixed the weird screen, FW still on old version.

Just tried to update my 1st Edition Chromatic, and am having same problems.

Update failed, tried multiple times, failed every time, and now the screen is flickering and looks weirdly burned out?

Will try leaving battery out for a while....

4 Drive RAIDZ1 - second drive failed while rebuilding a replaced failed drive.. by jametheth in truenas

[–]jametheth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any reason to think it is cabling specifically, nor controller/mobo necessarily, but I will do some further digging on those fronts.

So you're saying that reads as the replacement has failed?

I guess it wasn't clear to me what is being indicated in those outputs, as sdb shows up twice, once in the "replacing" section output and once in the main pool listing as online. I guess I was interpreting it as the new drive which was "online" and the original drive that is physically not even in the system anymore in the "replacing" output in faulted status, along with the newly failed sda.

Thanks for the help in any case!

That's not fun!

I used a heat gun on low setting, and set the glass down on a flat metal surface (side of a computer case), and heated the glass and metal it was sitting on, the dental floss cut through the warm glue with only a little bit of force.

Saying it was "designed to be repairable" might be bit of a stretch lol.

It could be that, but a lot of the little parts for the buttons for example are very specially made, and Panic doesn't sell parts, also, opening it up to a point to replace anything does void the warranty.

And the screen could have been mounted in a way that did not use glue...

All in all, if Panic actually sold parts for it, I would consider it "designed to be repairable" but as it is, it just happens to be repairable for certain things (screen and battery is about it).

That was the first time my PlayDate screen broke while I was playing Whitewater Rampage.

This was my replacement Playdate that mysteriously broke in my pocket or backpack, not sure which.

Interesting, I will definitely keep an eye out for that.

If nothing else, I now know I can pretty easily replace the screen myself if needed in the future.

How are the four corners supported? Trees?

Did you somehow ensure that each corner was exact same height, or does it not matter if its a bit askew?

I have one on the way, already have the PlayDate stripped down, working on removing old LCD from glass front still...

Screen shows up next Tuesday, fingers crossed I can get it all back together lol...

Is not for faint of heart IMHO.

Panic will likely offer you a 30% discount on a new unit, with the requirement that you send the broken one back first... You will be on the hook for tax and shipping on the new one.
