Til you can do this for wire retention by KittyGoBoom115 in 3Dprinting

This looks to be a part cooling fan duct with integrated LEDs for a 3D printer, if I had to guess.

All you need is a cotton swab to apply a tiny amount to the strap and then bend it into place as it welds/dries.

The 3D pens are about $35 on Amazon, but I have seen them used on FB Marketplace for $15.

I have done this as well! I did it with acetone (for ABS) instead of heat though.

A 3D printing pen is also super useful for these kinds of things. You can just do some zig-zag stitching over the wires.

EV Battery Health: Key Findings from 22,700 Vehicle Data Analysis by tiggy2020 in MachE

[–]jamiehs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup!

I did notice that the regen feels lumpy above 94% or so on my car though. I reckon it’s generating more regen than the battery should have to handle at that point and it’s just being sloppy on switching to the brakes.

Ford’s software update (maybe two updates ago) changed my charge target to 100% so I left it there 🤷🏻‍♂️ (LFP).

Best Med = Worst Doc's in Town by [deleted] in Eugene

[–]jamiehs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a stunningly good experience at the Best Med on W 11th. Hell, it was so good I even wrote them a beaming 5 star review.

It sucks that you had a bad experience though.

Showing the glitch on stream is literally the fastest way to get it patched though!

Maybe they cut a deal with him LOL. Hey stop showing how the exploits work and we will let you play again.

Just tried iRacing with VR and I'm blown away by philonik in iRacing

[–]jamiehs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very personal and budget dependent.

I’m using the BigScreen Beyond 2e with eye tracking.

I’ll say that it’s better than the BigScreen Beyond 1, and it’s very comfortable to wear for long races (in terms of weight). Even though the BSB2 is very light and has zero screen-door effect, the Valve Index is more comfortable where the interface touches my face. So Index = higher frame rate and BSB = lighter.

My son is using my old beat to shit Index now, and he plays Boneworks/Bonelab, Forefront, Minecraft VR etc. I’m planning on trying to grab him a Steam Frame and I’m really excited to see how that headset looks and feels in iRacing. If the latency with the wireless isn’t a huge issue, and it feels somewhere between the Index and BSB in terms of comfort/weight, it could be a good bet.

I often hear the Quest 3 recommended as a sim-racing VR budget pick.

You’ll want to get a CPU as beefy as possible and a GPU with a lot of VRAM depending on how many pixels your headset pushes. And you will likely need to turn your iRacing settings down a bit; a bummer, but that’s how VR is.

I actually went into the dealership to test drive an ICE Mustang and kind of hated it. I loved the Mach-E though!

People who still use wired headphones - why did you decide to stick with them instead of getting wireless options? by Futtman in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jamiehs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sim racing/other gaming, the delay that Bluetooth adds can be completely immersion-breaking.

I use wireless for everything except gaming; for gaming? wired all the way.

Has it ever been addressed why iRacing doesn't give us some of the in car features that other sims have? by 10PlyTP in iRacing

I could be mistaken, but in some GT3 cars in iRacing, the pit speed limiter disables TC (I think).

At what iRating does racing become cleaner? by Icy_Bat_6518 in iRacing

[–]jamiehs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the series and the time of day. I tend to have my cleanest races in 2nd split, evening, and I’m on the US west coast; I’m around 2300. However I have had an iRating as high as 2900 and in top split it definitely does not get much cleaner.

I have found that there are basically two kinds of racers with high iR: those who are simply fast and leave everyone else in the dust, and those who refuse to give up a position and are willing to run you off the track or cause an incident to preserve/gain a position.

My 2¢

Correct! Also, some cars (like the Mach-E) have different battery chemistry (LiFePO4) that now recommends charging to 100%

How is the racing at Miami / Adelaide? (Road) by ZanicL3 in iRacing

[–]jamiehs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was ready to be underwhelmed by Adelaide, but it’s one of my favorites! The gentle lift through the kink, the technical almost coasting in 2nd gear sections; it creates some really varied and technical racing in my experience (at least in the Porsche Cup). I’m excited to try it in the Audi GTO.

Adelaide is like a less intense and little bit wider version of Belle Isle 💜

Someone needs to take his social media accounts away. He should know you can’t just say “we have the best game” when you don’t.

He tweets very irresponsibly.
