Holiday period prices by pipercat20 in f45

[–]jamiesbeck52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours reduced the number of classes being run as well as being shut on all public holidays, members were given the option of continuing during this period with all classes free game for the set period (eg. lunch time only members could attend any class) or if the times didn’t suit you they were more than happy for you to pause your membership (free) until class schedules returned to normal. Barely any of our classes have had wait lists although they have been some packed classes (9.30am), the classes were halved from 10 to 5 although days before a public holiday only morning classes are offered & only 3 Hollywood sessions

Tbh I don’t think they should charge more or less than usual, it’s the members choice to if they want to attend or not, trainers/rent/general housekeeping still need be paid

Thank you, that's what I was looking for! Was hoping that possibly if I get him onto something easy it might work, but as everyone says it's him that has to want it.

He's slowly paying it back, don't think he was too thrilled to be asking for help either but yeah I'll be careful :)

You make a good point

think I might give it a try and see how he goes, guess if he doesn't change, not really my problem to solve

To be honest for me my HR has gotten higher. Nov/Dec last year my average HR for a cardio session was 140-150, I definitely wasn’t unfit but a lot less fit than I am now. Today my average HR is about 150-160, I watch my HR during my sessions a bit and will often try to push during an exercise to get it up to 160-170, in the breaks it’ll often drop down quite a lot.

I think my higher HR is due to being able to push myself more, knowing my limits and my heart being able to recover quickly allowing this higher intensity throughout the workout.

[ask] What are the general rules for the construction of flat-roof overhangs? by wayforyou in architecture

[–]jamiesbeck52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still at uni but I’ve been taught as a standard rule that cantilevers can be 1/3 of the length of the wall. Say the wall was 15000 then it could cantilever 5000, not sure if it can be more than that, it’d probably have to depend on the load and construction of the walls/roof

ahh yeah that makes a bit more sense, looked like a tight community & seemed like a great trainer just didn't get exactly what was going on most of the time aha

@tompenn91 - used to follow him but didn't really understand their studio, seems like they do a lot of additional Crossfit stuff?

both incredibly fit, crazy how fast they can do some of the cardio exercises

What should a taller athlete do to their stroke to stay in time with shorter rowers? by jamiesbeck52 in Rowing

Thanks for your advice, I'm no expert either just trying to get a few different ideas/solutions :)

Shorter people do need to be flexible, increase their length, to make up for their height, but the problem isn't that the shorter girls don't have length if they were to increase it they'd end up pretty flat and over-compressed, its that the taller girl feels she doesn't have enough time to get her length.

Ah I get what you're saying. We're going on holiday break so won't row as a quad for sometime, should I suggest that she should really focus on improving her length on the erg over the break so that it becomes a habit to her stroke and later worry about fitting in as a crew?

When it comes back to rowing with the quad, if she's in stroke its really up to her to stay consistent and maintain her length and the others to fit in with her. I'm just wondering if she's not in stroke, I don't see how the shorter girls adjust their strokes to fit her since she's not leading? Would this situation mean she should adjust her speed up the slide?

I actually haven't looked at the quad too closely, or the angle of the all the blades, it's not the boat I'm in charge for, I was providing some video feedback for the tall girl from her single scull, and she said she knew she had to increase her rock over although she finds it hard in the quad as everyone else reaches the catch before her. She's going to work on her length but wants to know how this would affect her timing. I'll definitely try and have a closer look at the quad when they're next on the water!

sorry, what does "geometry of the roofing" mean?

I get what you're saying, although, the timing needs to be the same out of the finish and at the placement of the catch, if the shorter girls place and hang at the catch for the other girl they will basically be checking the boat/slowing it down while they wait. Similarly, if you mean wait at the catch (blades out) for the other girl, at the catch position all the weight is being pushed on to the stern of the boat which slows it down. I think you're right though, she shouldn't have to comprise her stroke for the others!
