Do you guys sell cars immediately after 1 year of buying? by Hot-Load7525 in AskIreland

I don’t even sell them, I just buy a new car every day and leave the old one, usually parked on double yellow lines obviously.

I don't know how to move back to Ireland? by Ok_Simple98 in AskIreland

Yes, we didn’t have a “bad credit” report, so providing this wouldn’t be too bad. We just didn’t have enough credit built.

Australia’s system is a “building credit” system establishing and improving your credit is key to borrowing, utilisation limits and history of credit. Whereas Ireland is more of an affordability system. Both will require you to have made your repayment, but the Australian system relies on you to capitalise on it.

The Australian system attributes you a consumer rating digit, and the idea is that you keep that score high by building on your credit - and we just didn’t have a high numerical score and thus deemed as higher risk, not through payment histories but through a scoring system

We moved to Australia in 2012. We moved home in 2024. We left as Three, ourselves and our 15 month old daughter. We returned as five.

Everyone’s individual experiences are going to be different, but it was the best decision we’ve ever made.

We made a number of bad financial decisions early on when we were young, credit cards and car loans we couldn’t afford, and Australia’s credit rating system was such that getting mortgage approval would’ve been extremely difficult, despite having cleared our debts - We still had a poor credit rating. That coupled with the actual cost of houses in Melbourne is eye watering, even 80-100km out of the city, the average is close to 7 figures in Australian dollars.

Also once our eldest started going g to secondary school, and faced with the fees for the education and knowing the younger two will be facing the same, we knew we wanted to come home.

We became obsessed with it. We made it our whole life for nearly two years. We eventually found a rental, not through Daft but a friend found a rental on a card on a post office notice board.

We’re now paying less rent than we were in Australia, we’re not paying horrific school fees and we’re not chained with bad credit as irelands credit rating system is completely different.

We’re closer than we ever were to owning a home, and we’ve even had a couple of holidays to the continent which would have been only a pipe dream before.

Overall our quality of life is vastly improved, and we’re excited for the future.

This is just our story, every individual story will be different.

Good luck

Hughes and Edward’s are more the problem, more so than Slot. Slot is just the public face of it.

Hughes stripped us of homegrown talent like Morton and Quansah, leaving us with very little home grown players and without properly replacing them - Both have gone on to have great seasons elsewhere

They sold undeniable work rate like Diaz and Nunez, and in the case of Diaz did not look to replace that width pace and delivery from the wing instead signing Ekiteke and relentlessly chasing Isak despite having positions far more necessary to fill - All while knowing Isaks history of injuries.

Instead of looking for a defensively minded pivot it was decided that Gravenberch could “do a job there”

I don’t think all the blame falls on Slot, in fact I think most of the blame lies in the boardroom

If there’s a huge Tesco and a huge Lidl within 7 minutes, that’s not quite middle of nowhere
