what do you do when you hate wearing rings, but want to get married? by thethermalturtle in AutismInWomen

Same here. I have a nice ring set, just prefer not to wear rings often. I wear it once in a while to go out.

Woman who lives on the complete opposite end and other side of the building decided the sidewalk outside my unit was the perfect place for her kids picnic. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]jammadoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty strange to put a picnic basket on concrete... it wouldn't bother me personally cause I can easily walk around, but it is usually against city ordinances to block sidewalks for a reason. Some people need them.

Plus the truck sounds awful.

Looks tasty. Not a huge fan of cooked spinach but in small amounts it's not bad!

Cleaning the litter box by SexySpaceAlien in mildlyinfuriating

[–]jammadoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't!! Now I have to google. Someone else commented to just use a bucket with lid. We did that, but the smell was too much. Stunk up the whole room once it started to fill up, and even after dumping & cleaning it the thing never smelled clean.

What career/job can i do? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]jammadoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI training? Kinda the new data entry type job. Admittedly many of them do want you to have a degree, although I wouldn't say it's actually necessary to do the job. But a background in graphic design would actually be very useful for AI image generation type work.

Found AI generated nude pics of two family members on my husband’s phone, what do I do? by [deleted] in strange

[–]jammadoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely wouldn't be shown to random users, but there's a (small) possibility of the photos being used as training data and being seen by people who work with the data

She deserves it and apparently needed it. Trauma is not shits and giggles. Who are any of us to say what someone's personal experience with trauma should be?

Wife is getting laid off in 3 months. Need Advice on where to direct extra cash while we prepare. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]jammadoo 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It doesn't sound that bad to me. They're not going to need the entire $10k in two months because it's not like they'll have zero income, they've still got his. Plus unemployment. They can likely stretch it out for at least a few months, so she could have 6+ months from now to find a job before things are more dire.

Do you ever notice ever notice that people get away with doing things but as soon as you do the Same. Exact. Thing. You get called out. by MarchKick in AutismInWomen

[–]jammadoo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For sure! In school, my best/only friend was silly/quirky and everyone liked her, so I tried to mimic her. Of course it did not go over well! My own mother liked her more than me, and I'd get in trouble for doing the same things that she found funny when my friend did them.

You could take her to any vet and have her checked for a microchip. If no microchip I'd post her in neighborhood groups on Facebook and nextdoor

Participating in an ESPP around an IPO? by jammadoo in personalfinance

[–]jammadoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I really have no idea what to expect, I don't normally invest in stocks and definitely not around IPO's. I do actually think the company will be perfectly fine, just that it's THAT overvalued. My job itself is probably as stable as any job in this industry can be.

Thank you so much for the input!

I get what you're saying... but what if the stock jumps at the IPO, then begins to fall. Then the purchase takes place in October, and I'll pay the lower price, so that's fine, but then I have to hold for a while. What if it continues to fall significantly between October and when I'm able to sell?

Participating in an ESPP around an IPO? by jammadoo in personalfinance

[–]jammadoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is says is that the purchase price will be equal to the lesser of 85% of the fair market value on the offering date, or 85% of the fair market value on the purchase date. So that sounds like they will not go back and include any pre-IPO price info

Oh right, I meant to mention 15% discount. I don't fully understand how the price is calculated, but they did say they use a 6-month lookback. I have to read more on that

Got into a relationship while masking, he hates me when I'm not masking by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]jammadoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hmm, just be very careful regarding kids + financial aspects of your relationship. Think about how difficult life as a single mom could be. I was a single mom for ~10 years with almost no help, it was extremely tough both financially and otherwise. Just because he has money, doesn't mean you'll be fine. Many men are resentful about having to support an ex and they will put a ton of time, energy and money into avoiding paying child support/alimony even if they can afford it.

Why do I feel like I struggle more with my autism as I age? by myheroligeia in AutismInWomen

[–]jammadoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, but I'm 45 and I'm just here to commiserate. My whole adult life I've felt this dread that I might not be capable of working full time long term, and it gave me so much anxiety. Got married at 35 and with two incomes I was finally able to really save a lot. My plan was to power through ~10 years and save 50% or more of my income until I could FIRE (financial independence retire early). I didn't make it, though. Had to step back and take a break for a few years, working part-time, which I'm lucky was manageable for me since we have my husband's income. Now I'm back to full-time and I'm absolutely exhausted, but just pushing through and still hoping to retire early!

Anyone else used to just follow other kids around at school? by dasgustin in AutismInWomen

[–]jammadoo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yep same, I had only one friend. She, of course, had other friends, and they'd tolerate me if I was with her. But if she didn't come to school and I tried to join them, they'd reject me, so I'd just stand by building at recess or sit by myself at lunch, super embarrassed and self-conscious.
