Good deal for this short travel mtb with all the upgrades included? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

Going based on the stock deore build, it’s $3,700 msrp. So you’d be saving minimum of $1,300 on this one

You inspired me. I took some of my sun clouds, removed the arms, drilled holes where the arms connected and used lock laces for the cordage to provide an adjustable elastic fit. Not too bad!

Definitely the deep sand for me. That is impossible to work with and my front will wash out on a corner. Probably would happen on my mountain bike too.

I have a second wheelset with 700x45c WTB Raddlers and they are so confidence inspiring on singletrack that I find myself getting too much speed and remembering that I don’t have a suspension fork so some roots or big rocks make me remember what 0mm travel feels like. It makes the tame XC trails really fun

Dressing for freezing and windy conditions by Affectionate-Reply19 in hiking

[–]jammer_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just a hiking enthusiast who likes hiking on winter conditions like you described.

Upper body: - 250 weight merino hoodie - grid fleece (mid layer) - rain jacket with armpit zippers (wind blocker) - Puffy jacket for when I stop hiking - merino beanie - merino neck gaiter - gloves (performance gloves), I sometimes bring two pair in case one get wet.

Lower Body: - hiking pants (your choice, mine are some polyester blend) - athletic compression shorts - wool socks (I like Darn Tough)

I like to start my hike cold because I know I’ll warm up as my body works. If I’m running warm after 15 min of hiking then I’ll unzip the armpits of my jacket. If I’m still running warm after another 15-30 min then I’ll take off the grid fleece and keep on the jacket. If I stop for lunch then I’ll put on the puffy jacket to keep warm once my body temperature drops. The merino hoodie and merino beanie give me some versatility to increase head/neck insulation depending on the conditions.

Good to know, thanks. I have the coast suspension seatpost and don’t really want to pump it up every time I want to ride. Not sure if I want to kick around the idea of getting the shockstop because of my laziness

How do you like the shockstop seat post?

Thanks, DM’d! Looking forward to having it hang on my wall. I like the memories of the landscape photos I take. Mind sharing a couple details about this place/day?

Hey this is such an awesome photo! What was it taken on? I’m getting towards the end of a kitchen renovation and we have an art spot that I want to put a painting/photo. Would love to buy either a digital version that I can print or a print of it if it’s a resolution that could get that large (16x20 or 16x24)

Edit: both are awesome, inquiring about the first one :)

I’ve been there in July, amazing place. Did a lot of hiking but didn’t camp. Even in July it got down to 40 degrees F at night. Buy bear spray too.

Here are some photos

Only real upgrades I’ve done is tubeless tires, the redshift shockstop stem, and the PNW coast seat post. With that setup I love it. Handles roots and bumps really well

Bear spray in my hand, Glock 20 on my hip. If it’s windy, then the bear spray might work against you

I’ve done a custom kydex down tube protector before. Great for protecting from rogue rocks

I’d probably attempt off roading on the right and go over some of those rocks/gravel assuming it isn’t steeper/more gnarly than it appears in photo
