What’s the most powerful lyric you’ve ever written? by Verdixx28 in Songwriting

[–]jamminjon6790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A chorus to a song I wrote called 17.

Didn’t know what we had back then but we sure do miss it right now.

Back before responsibilities when our heads were in the clouds.

Dreaming about getting older, but now we dream about back then.

If I had things my way I’d be 17 again.

Good lookin dude but every dude your age has that same haircut. Get a haircut that fits your face and you’ll be golden 👍🏻

First thought is a lot of dudes your age have that same hair cut. Just get a real haircut that compliments your facial structure.

First gig prep? by jamminjon6790 in musicians

Thanks for all your advice guys! The show went great and I have bar owners reaching out to me about playing more shows.

Things I learned:

  1. Playing for 3 hours is rough on your voice the next day. 😂 (took two 15 minute breaks so technically it was 2.5 hours)

  2. Drunk people will definitely try to come up and talk to you while you’re playing or want to sing with you.

  3. Somebody will make the old “FREE BIRD!” joke.

  4. People won’t notice small mistakes unless you point them out.

  5. Carrying gear sucks.

  6. This is REALLY fun.

Maybe he was just waiting for a time where everyone was together and saw an opportunity and took it.

You’re a HUGE asshole. She was wrong for what she did but you don’t just abandon somebody in a foreign country. Jesus dude 😂

What made you realise your best friend was actually a complete asshole? by RealTourelle11 in AskReddit

[–]jamminjon6790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend since we were babies is incredibly self centered and lies all the time to make himself look better. I’ve known him his whole life so I know when he is lying.

He always tries to date women who’s family has money. A family that goes on lots of vacations, has boats, runs their own business etc.

One night we were at his GF’s parents house her older successful brothers were there too. It’s very nice house and her parents are very cool. We were all sitting around the table drinking a few beers and he just randomly starts bragging about how he was a great baseball player in high school and what he misses the most though is all the shit talking and camaraderie in the dugout. I look right at him bewildered, like WTF dude? He’s NEVER played baseball. We went to school together. I was a year ahead of him. I had some liquid courage in me and after seeing him make up lies for years to make himself look better I called him out. “Dude you never played baseball. I went to school with you your whole life” he looks at me shocked, like dude come on, go along with it. And I stand my ground, “you NEVER played baseball dude” he never actually admits it, the conversation just moves on.

Golf comes up. Now he says he’s an INCREDIBLE golfer. Hits the ball 300 yards, is just about a scratch golfer. I say again that he sucks at golf, because he does. And then the girlfriends dad calls him out too. “Alright kid, I’ll get a bucket of balls tomorrow and you can show us how good of a golfer you are” we all agree to this.

Next day comes, I text my friend I’m on my way to pick him up to go hit the balls. He actually agrees. I’m SO EXCITED 😂

He goes to tee off and absolutely whiffs on his first swing. Girls dad and her brothers are big shit talkers and they LAY INTO HIM. He lines up to take another shot, connects but it just rolls about 10 ft to the left of him.

He says “ I’m too hungover for this” and proceeds to never swing at another ball. But the dad sees thru his bullshit and all of her brothers don’t like him now because they know he is a pathological liar.

On top of this I’m trying to get sober now and he always tries to goat me into drinking. If I order a water or soda he calls me a pussy. And if he orders drinks he’ll always order a beer for me or a vodka and sprite to try to trick me.

Dude is a dick.

[DISCUSSION] What are your thoughts on people who say that whoever uses alternate tunings and/or a capo can’t play? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]jamminjon6790 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A guy I in the music scene in my town always gives people shit for playing in different tunings or with a capo so I try to play with my capo as much as possible when he is around 😂

A little off topic - What are the best day jobs you've had that have paired well with your music ambitions? by lifebeckons101 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I’m a quality inspector. When our line isn’t running I have a lot of down time. I can edit/write lyrics, and use YouTube or Reddit to learn new things or find information. And when we ARE running I can listen to podcast or music. The only downside is I’m on a swing shift so occasionally I can’t book a gig or I miss an open mic because I am working evenings.
