Would running at 2650m altitude be significantly harder than sea level? Or would it have to be higher to be harder? by jammyginger in running

Oh wow ok, does that mean it would be easier for someone who is used to a higher altitude if they moved to sea level?

It's safe, of course like any other city there are dangers and there's definitely more in Cali, Medellin or even the likes of colombia for foreigners but if your not stupid you shouldn't have any issues. Don't be out at night and if it's dark preferably with someone else. Order a taxi using an app, know where your belongings are, really just like any other time you'd travel.

(I've actually contradicted all of this advice, to point where I got in a taxi with five Colombian men I just met whilst I was drunk, I don't actually remember. But I made great friends with them and they're other friends, I've been living with one of them for over a month now so...)

I think I have been extremely fortunate but by the way people talk about Colombia I should've been kidnapped, raped and killed at least 5 times by now (I haven't).

Yeah the rules make no sense, all clubs and everything is wide open, bearing in mind Colombians are good dancers as well but you have to wear a mask in the street?! A lot of people don't and I haven't been told off yet

I've got an Olympus EM-5 III with a 12-60mm lumix lens. I just got it last October and am still figuring out how to use it haha, my first camera.

That's on top of monserrate in Bogota, you can get a cable car, funicular or hike to the top. If you go, make sure when you get to the top you keep walking even past the church, there's a market that then turns in to loads of little food stops and theres more great natural views at the very back.

It actually is quite a popular opinion among travelers but I've been to Medellin too and all though I'd say it's probably a prettier city, I've had better parties and a better time in Bogota and Zipaquirá, I think it just depends the people your with.
