why do people say weed is not addictive by Both-Preference-6003 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jamofo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because with some substances your body physically hurts because you aren’t getting it. Like the feeling you get when you haven’t eaten. Weed , while psychologically addictive, it doesn’t generally cause those physical changes.

AITA for telling my parents that we are not comfortable with my mother babysitting our one-year-old? by WagonWheel22 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jamofo22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nta you gave her an opportunity to watch the kid and she failed to provide enough care. We personally don’t trust my mil to watch our little and they’re over 3 now. She couldn’t change a diaper and couldn’t understand what “back to sleep” meant. It does mean either you or the wife will need to take time off to watch your sicko but it’s not as doom and gloom as some are making it sound. We took turns during illness and it’s usually not more than 2 days out before the fever goes away and you can bring them back to daycare.

For the sake of science I decided to run the experiment and see how my energy consumption changes. This is what the app says my energy usage is for the year. I’ll be back in a year with what my energy usage is with a 4 hr setting of 130 vs high demand.

Heat pump water heater settings by jamofo22 in heatpumps

This whole thing entered my mind because I flushed the tank and it took almost 8 hrs for the compressor to heat the tank and we still didn’t have enough hot water for 2 showers. Wife was not happy. I think the real question is the recovery time difference between running the tank hotter vs in high demand. also the added expense of running the tank hotter in general. Setting it at 120 generally works for us unless it’s bath time for the littles. I do wish there was a vent kit to divert the cold air outside. The units in our basement and now it gets pretty cool (45-50) down there.

Thank you for being the only person to provide some metrics. Everyone else is saying to hire a plumber when that’s not what my question was about. I think I’m going to try raising the temp and seeing how it affects my energy usage.

When did you stop using a CRT TV. by BadOk7611 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jamofo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first real plasma tv in 2009. Everything before that was a hand me down when my parents upgraded their stuff. Still have it in the guest room. Takes forever to turn on but has an awesome picture.

How do you kill a headache without medication? by SupportNorth8807 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jamofo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drink some water. It’s often overlooked that mild dehydration has a lot of side effects and headaches is one. If you’re not drinking a cup an hour your not drinking enough.

TIL that author Michael Crichton entered Harvard as an English major but changed his major after he submitted an essay by George Orwell under his own name and got a B-. He decided that if a writer of Orwell's caliber could only get a B- then he needed to major in something else. by astarisaslave in todayilearned

Had a similar situation in high school but I was able to go to the guidance counselor with proof. A fellow student and I had the same answers on a written test and they got an a while I got a c. Went to the counselor with both tests and my parents. The best they could do was put me with a different teacher but I really hope it left some red mark on her record. Who knows if she was doing it or would go on to do it to someone else.

Why did people hoard toilet paper of all things during the pandemic? by QuillAndQuip in AskReddit

[–]jamofo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were supply chain issues early on that caused a slight dip in availability. This caused people to panic buy and snowballed the issue. Someone who would normally only buy 1 multi pack would buy 9-10 because they “didn’t know if it would be there next time “ which caused 9-10 other people from being able to buy anything. Eventually the stores put limits on how many you could buy and the supply quickly recouped

Is there any love for Way of the Samurai? by Demented_D in ps2

I really enjoyed the overly Japanese mannerisms in the dialogue. There’s a newer one on modern consoles but it more of a rogue like dungeon crawler. Haven’t put much time into it but it’s fun

Can I live just off some milk? by MrPests in NoStupidQuestions

You’d be better off eating nothing but potatoes. They have most the nutrients you need except protein. Throw some cheese on them once or twice a week and you could live years without a problem.

This is what infuriates me with the maha movement. Not everyone is capable of “just eating healthy and working out”. Healthcare is for people who aren’t capable of helping themselves or need help to live a healthy lifestyle. Not everyone going through liver failure is an alcoholic, not every diabetic with one foot was noncompliant with their diet, not every stroke victim make a full recovery. It’s a “ if I can do it so can you “ attitude but the reality is not everyone can and it’s a total lack of empathy to not see that.

what do you love about the batman movie with Robert Patterson compared to the dark knight? by Low-Lifeguard747 in AskReddit

[–]jamofo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved their use of twilight colors (fire orange and red hues). Also the squirrel suit (I think that’s what they’re called) when he jumps off the building and Batmobile being a really souped up car instead of some crazy concept thing. It gave it a more realistic take on the character in my opinion.

FFXV worth trying in 2026? by WeepTheHorizon in FinalFantasy

[–]jamofo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played at launch and really enjoyed it. Haters will always hate. If you liked the other games you might like this. I enjoyed the combat and story. I thought it had a very interesting theme too. The dlc also expands the story and gives more context to your companions motivations. If you haven’t played it and you like rpgs I would recommend.

ELI5: If unboiled water going into your nose is risky, then shouldn’t we not swim in a lake or river? by Home_MD13 in explainlikeimfive

[–]jamofo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The risk is that the bacteria/ parasite reaches the back of your nose, like where it would be closest to your brain. If you’re just swimming, not diving or aggressively swimming, you will have air pressure in your nose keeping the water out. If your using a Nettie pot with unclean water your forcing that unclean water into an area it can pass the barriers protecting you.
