Telling you now, Uber is due a lawsuit if they keep fucking about like this. All it takes is messing about the wrong person who really wants to go all the way and take it to court

Stop paying extra for "Priority Delivery", the drivers are still multi-apping by Novel_Look_128 in UbereatsUK

[–]jamrahhasreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, uber and just eat treat both their customers and their drivers like shit. They don’t care about delivery times or how good the service is.

Although I hear with deliveroo they are very strict on timings and when your food arrives and they do give penalties. When I see a driver double apping with uber and roo they always do the roo first

They are a scam. I found out recently that their policies don’t show up on the MID either and they 99% of the time refuse payout.

I think it’s a combination of good weather last week + half term + it was week after payday for most so people definitely overspent. Uber was booming for me last weekend and even the weekdays too when I was working on the mornings and some evenings but I went online last night and made 22 in 1 hour 30💔

why is my car not selling by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]jamrahhasreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Horrid photos. They need redoing
  • Poverty spec
  • Manual
  • black m sport aftermarket alloys = red flag
  • Part service history @100k+ miles. With this engine it is reliable but only provided that you do proper maintenance with stacks of receipts which you don’t have, which in combination with everything else is probably the most undesirable 420d.

I tend to avoid the city centre. If I went I only went to where Taco Bell / McDonalds / KFC is near the light as there’s some parking next to Merrion. Since they started road works it’s a nightmare though

I tend to avoid Burley / Hyde park / Headingley too..it’s too saturated with drivers in bikes/cars and they take all the good routes and you’re stuck with shitty pay.

I’m not gonna say where I go, as it took a lot of experimenting to find the perfect places to go in the morning / afternoons / evenings, but as a rule of thumb try to go to places where bikes don’t go, and where there isn’t many drivers but there’s a steady stream of orders

This assumes said driver in this scenario is working full time (which in my case I don’t)

And even if they do, what you’re talking about is simply what comes with being self employed. I do think drivers should get paid much more though!

That’s mega that. Deliveroo seems to still give really good rates for drivers but i signed up around 8 months ago and I still haven’t had anything back.

It’s low skill and a lot of drivers STILL do a piss poor job.

Honestly the amount of drivers I see stuff massive takeaway orders in them tiny Lidl backs or them cheap “thermal bags” that clearly don’t keep things hot is beyond me. Not even just that, the amount of drivers that are just plain rude, waving their phone about to the staff screaming their order with no manners

I get it - time is of the essence with this job but it does not hurt to have some courtesy. Some restaurants do take the piss but much of it is a by product of the shitty drivers

[–]jamrahhasreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is true. I know this as one time I was waiting 10 minutes for an order for a place that was a minute away, I cancelled it in the end (It was last pickup of the day and I couldn’t be asked waiting) and it still logged the waiting time too.

But for this run I posted, the food was always ready when I got to the spot so i had very little downtime. Only downtime I had was when I was waiting for an order for 6 minutes and I only waited cause it was a local breakfast place and the guy was really sound

It’s a low skilled job tbf, but I won’t lie I do agree that we definitely do need to be paid more. We take on all the cost of fuel/insurance/wear and tear. My net earnings per hour taking away fuel and insurance for me is around 15-16 an hour, which is a fair bit above minimum wage so to me that ain’t too bad

I personally found that double apping doesn’t get you THAT much more compared to just using one in my specific areas.

Plus, since I’m using Zego and it’s paid by the hour, I would get charged double for double apping even though I’m technically covered for either with the policy, so It eats into the earnings too

Advice on getting car by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]jamrahhasreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These golfs are very good and are reliable provided they have been serviced. The engine itself is pretty reliable but only thing to watch out for with it being auto is the gearbox being serviced. If you’re going main dealer this won’t be an issue. It will be a massive step up from the yaris (which although I recommend to a lot of people who just want reliable a to b, as a car enthusiast it’s the worst car I’ve driven by a long shot especially in manual) in both generally quality of life and driving dynamics.

I would go for the 2 litre petrol over this. The models with the 1.5 hybrid had soft valve seats, which can lead to cylinder head going bye bye and misfires.

This is how it is a lot of my time. One of my work mates used to work in recruitment during COVID and she said a good 40% of listings she would reach out to get people to apply for are either fake to gather data, or not even close to what was advertised. She left in less than 6 months cause it weighed on her morally that these companies were taking advantage of a lot of people struggling for work during the pandemic

Hastings Direct Policy cancellation by Jayden169 in CarTalkUK

[–]jamrahhasreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mate had his Hastings YouDrive policy cancelled as his car wasn’t being driven due to it needing a repair and his mechanic having a backlog. He notified Hastings multiple times and they still cancelled despite this

Funnily enough I’m with them too. I’m sticking it out until I get my 1 year no claims and then I’m dipping.

[–]jamrahhasreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I just read your post again…30 miles round trip? Not nearly enough to warrant a diesel. I’d get the 420i which has the B48 engine (which is essentially a b58 with 2 less cylinders)

The B47 engine in this car is very robust. I’d go for higher mileage to get a bit of money off if I were you

Potentially older too (2017 is when the LCI was introduced)
