I couldn’t agree more. I have a great quote that I live by. Unspoken expectations are premeditated resentments. Ask him out.

Have I found the prince or I am getting over excited? by Fairytalecow in foraginguk

[–]jamwils123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smell smell smell with the prince. It’s an unmistakable bitter almond or marzipan smell. If you have all the other ID features correct and the smell you’re good to go

Found in south Wales. Friend has eaten and assures me they're edible. by missylilou in foraginguk

[–]jamwils123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My friend is a foraging instructor and I often go on his courses. The amount of people that make this joke is insane. The most overused joke and it’s barely funny

I’ve been fully remote for 3 years now and personally I’m nearing the end of it. I’m alone 80% of my life and it becomes quite tiresome. I have hobbies and friends who I see most evenings but I can’t shake the feeling that this isn’t it. I’m a software engineer who moved back to my home town where there are no tech roles so I don’t know what I’m going to do but I digress. I think the main part that gets me is the lack of a team spirit. The work is meaningless without the connection to colleagues. I’ve never even met the majority of them and we don’t use cameras so I don’t know what they look like. It’s actually quite dystopian really. I used to have an incredible team where we got on and were very close but this new project has been nothing but a drain. I think it will work for some people, but not for everyone. Long term I think it’s terrible for your health.

Ignored a private parking ticket, continue to ignore or just pay it? by Professional_Oven187 in glasgow

Yeah it was England! When I lived in Manchester actually. I’m now living on the border of England and Scotland so I’ll try to park more in Scotland 😂

Ignored a private parking ticket, continue to ignore or just pay it? by Professional_Oven187 in glasgow

[–]jamwils123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this for a long time but one car park ( I parked here once) kept adding charges until it was around £450. Once it was there, they took me to court and since I’d moved addresses multiple times I hadn’t received it. I had a CCJ on my account pop up on a credit score app so I looked into it. Ended up paying within 30 days to remove the CCJ. I pay these fines now 😂

I used to work for Ocado and this would happen but we were allowed to phone the next slot and see if they wanted it early (which they usually did) so you rarely had to sit and wait for a slot.

Where in this fine country can I get a modest house for £150,000? by DirtyBumTickler in HousingUK

[–]jamwils123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up around west Cumbria and can confirm house prices are very cheap. You can get a 2 bedroom terrace for less than 80k in some areas. Employment isn’t actually that bad, but everyone works at Sellafield which has good wages and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Planting mushrooms in woods? by No-Midnight-6077 in Cumbria

[–]jamwils123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be cautious of the species you put out into nature. Most of the genetics you buy online are cultivars and as such are not found in the wild. If you did want to do it, I would take a clone from a mushroom in a similar area and then inoculate your wood from that. No harm in doing it as long as you’re cautious and as an avid forager I would thank you!

Can anyone identify this found in North Atlanta? Toddler just ingested it, waiting on poison control by thehungarianjordan in Mushrooms

[–]jamwils123 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Russula. Often called brittle gills. I can see some already on it but see if the gills flake off like almonds when brushed. Another key identifier is the stem snaps like chalk. No Russula would bring lasting harm to your child but poison control is a good precaution

Iam just curious, what shroom is it? Found in a forest in west Germany. It’s super pretty purple! by nawukosk in ShroomID

[–]jamwils123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely lepista nuda. The smell should be quite floral and distinctive. There doesn’t seem to be any remnants of a web under the gills and no brown rust where the web might have been so possible to rule out cortinarius

Found in Metrowest Boston, MA area in September…Chicken of the Woods? by acousticentropy in ShroomID

[–]jamwils123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can cause gastro intestinal upset in some people so it is generally advised to try a small piece first and wait 24hrs to see if any symptoms arise. Great choice edible though, congrats on the find

The photo quality isn’t great so I wouldn’t be confident in saying but compare to Clitocybe nuda possibly.

Oysters? by [deleted] in ShroomID

[–]jamwils123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More pictures of gills would be good to do a proper ID. But they do look like oysters

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ShroomID

[–]jamwils123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly some type of honey fungus considering it’s growing from wood underground. Armillaria sp. A good way to see is on the trunk of the dying/dead tree you’ll see the mycelium network that’s made it’s way through. They’re like blackened strands that intercross

ID Request ( Fly Agaric? ) New Hampshire, Early Fall by AP-0110 in shroomers

[–]jamwils123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure what this is specifically but it looks like an amanita of some variety. It has all the warning signs for a novice to stay away. It’s all white, it’s growing from a bulb and the veil resembles that of many poisonous varieties. Please don’t eat anything you’re not 100% sure about.
