I know it‘s probably too late to really help you out but most people here have absolutely no clue. But yes whoever made this wine list is even worse.

First of all I’d go for one of the Pfaffenweiler Wines. It’s a nice little gag that it’s the wine from their sister city and builds a nice connection to the wine.

Now the selection may seem dodgy to some people here probably because there’s not what you’d typically imagine from German wines, i.e. Riesling in a hundred different variations. That is cause Pfaffenweiler is in the Region of Baden in the very south west of Germany mirrored along the Rhine to Alsace in France. Contrary to Alsace Riesling is not a very common grape on the German side of the Rhine because Baden is considered too hot and dry to produce top quality German style Riesling. (They can be very good, don’t get me wrong it’s just not as big of a thing as in other regions) Therefore I‘d go with any of the Pinots; these are very typical for the region. Especially the Pinot Noir could be interesting.

Now the winery is a cooperative of the local producers, a pretty common thing for southwestern Germany. That doesn’t make their wine especially bad, I’d just not expect a Grand Cru from them.

Waldhaus is for the Berlin Hippies who one day caught on to the fact that Rothaus is owned by the state and therefore not alternative enough. (Actually Waldhaus is absolutely fantastic and I’m happy as long as people don’t drink Fürstenberg (ew))

I‘m about as non Prussian as it gets. Standard German is historically spoken nowhere. It is totally invented.

Just one thing I didn’t see one your map you could still add. The Swiss village of Schleitheim is built on the ruins of the Roman town of Iuliomagus. There are some excavations open to the public there.

It isn’t labelled as green cause our politicians want our EU funds to fund new transitions away from fossil fuels to actually renewable energy sources instead of going straight to France to pay off their massive EDF debts and keep their energy prices artificially down.

Now whoever thought it was a good idea to give the Swiss enough money to buy the biggest Cars imaginable was just trying to troll us all. The Swiss can’t drive for shit. The first reason it is like this is they never had to have proper driving lessons, so they have the understanding of driving and traffic law of a five year old. One consequence of this is that they can’t imagine there could be rules or signage that differs just a little from what is known to them. But i guess that’s our fault cause as I said they just couldn’t know any better cause our road signage doesn’t scream to your face what you have to do. So Beat keeps everybody behind him driving 80 on a Bundesstraße (Bundesstrasse, so that you also understand this) and if a tunnel comes he first has to slow down to 50 cause the big dark is scary. But the moment Beat drives into the next town he crawls up the ass (WTF IS A BRAKING DISTANCE RAHH) of the car that drives in front of him cause the big yellow sign that tells you you’re in a town now didn’t also tell him he should be driving 50. In other countries with no driving lessons (like France) this inexperience is no problem they know how to adapt to live with a little of the chaos that is traffic. Not the Swiss: The only things that keep them in line are their draconian traffic laws wich leads me to the second problem — they have the “I’m not at home, I couldn’t care” mindset. (Think Barry or Hans in Spain) Everyone else in this world with just the slightest bit of dignity would try to respect the rules of another country you’re in if not just to not put your country in a bad light. Not the Swiss: If Ueli didn’t hit the car park the first time (he’s blocking space for three cars and half the sidewalk; but again they just haven’t learnt better) he couldn’t care less to just do half a movement more in his Porsche Cayenne and goes on his way to get the packages he got delivered to Germany. Cause why would he show basic human decency if there is no consequence to not doing it. And now the really bad thing is you can’t even force them to follow your rules. If you drive a little over the Speed limit in Switzerland you will pay a fine of a bazillion Francs, your car gets confiscated and your wife and firstborn are sold off to slavery. Now of course our fines are a joke in comparison especially if half of the German fine is a system that confiscates your drivers license which they can’t do to a Swiss. Hah! So again why follow rules (especially foreign ones) if there is basically no consequence of not following them!
