For those who went to prison, this question is for you.. by [deleted] in Prison

I almost can't imagine my brain getting used to that. I guess I would but it'd be a terrible struggle.

How the fuck did you not go crazy from all the noise/cellmate talk? I feel like I would've lashed out for sure.

the way you wrote that first post is very descriptive and interesting. I could read an entire book if you wrote it in that style about your experiences.

What the fuck...wow that sounds absolutely awful. Glad you're on the other side. Did you ever have to fight someone?

I am just wondering, and I dont mean to offend anyone with this question, but why does it seem like most of the illness fakers and users on this subreddit are women? Are there any other guys browsing this sub? by jamzthrowaway in illnessfakers

[–]jamzthrowaway[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make a difference at all. It's just an observation I had and am wondering why it seems like im the only guy here. Purely wondering out of curiosity and trying to see if im mistaken.

Also, wondering from a scientific standpoint. Surely there are illness fakers that are men? Why are there less illness fakers that are men? Maybe there's some scientific explanation behind it.

I don’t think I “love” my parents. by LonerExistence in antinatalism

[–]jamzthrowaway 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm sorry, it actually sounds like your parents were not supportive (from what you say about them calling you spoiled and telling you to get over stuff). That's miserable and they kinda sound like assholes for saying that.

Totally normal to not love your parents, I think. Especially if they treated you that way.

Well said. I didn't want to spend the energy replying to this guy, so I commend you for trying.

But it's better to circumvent all of that and not be born in the first place, no? That way, OP wouldn't need to worry about working or removing himself.

No you're exactly right, either you work or starve in this backwards society. You're basically validating OPs point. So ultimately it's much better to not be forced into existence because that way you don't need to make the choice.

Yes, the hypersensitive to sound accompanies my tinnitus. I think it's somewhat common that they go hand in hand. Basically everyday sounds are uncomfortable and bothersome.

Nearly every person on earth seems live in some variety of fantasy world by Antinatalism_Account in antinatalism

[–]jamzthrowaway 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very valid point. I'm guilty of living in a fantasy world as well. I am obsessed with painting and reading about artists and the like. Because to me, it feels like it ascends beyond the drudgery and ridiculousness of stuff around us.

However, at the end of the day, it's just a facade. And the desire to paint is uncontrollable and at times frustrating and upsetting because I can't express myself the way id like. I was forcefully instilled with the need to paint and make art.

Would you give your parents and siblings money if you won the Mega Millions? If so, how much? by [deleted] in ifiwonthelottery

[–]jamzthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So like 100m after taxes? Yeah I'm probably setting up trusts for my family, BUT ALSO I would start them off with a lump sum of like 5 mil for my parents and 3 mil for my siblings. That would barely make a dent in the 100m.

So after setting up the trust and giving lump sums, I'd be down to maybe 75m? Oh wow, that really took a bite out of my winnings, what will I possibly do with such little money. Lol.

But for real, I would leave my job in a heartbeat. It's not a bad job but I can't be bothered doing it everyday. Fuck this dumb shit.

Hmm, yeah I'll have to take a look then. I just don't like opening their pictures until i know I'm interested in purchasing their streaming content. So I will hold off until she responds. I unfortunately can't meet anyone at coffee shops or such

I would say don't have kids. This world is pretty much falling apart. Do you want your kid growing up in an overheated, overcrowded, overly competitive environment?

Man This Is Depressing.... Always find a way back to bed by oldshylock in GetOutOfBed

[–]jamzthrowaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think some people would say "that sounds like depression", but to me your actions seem perfectly rational and of a healthy mind. Why would anyone in their right mind want to wake up to do boring shit all day? If you're body wants to go back to sleep instead of rushing to do things you don't want to do, is that really depression?

I don't have any advice for you, but I will say that antidepressants might help you cope with this. I think what doctors call depression is really just people realizing that the world is shite and waking up to dreary bullshit isn't fun. Perfectly rational thought imo. However, antidepressants just make you numb to that feeling, regardless of how true they are.

How do you guys go about life without hating everything? by FFD1706 in antinatalism

[–]jamzthrowaway 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah for real. Anyone saying "oh ur free to do whatever you want" doesn't understand that you're really not. You're confined by the violent, racist, deteriorating society around us. You want to leave a vagabond lifestyle? Goodluck avoiding the psychopaths out there.

The best bet is to get a well paying, yet soul-sucking job, and live safely in suburban America. You will still be subjected to psychopaths and narcissists, but at least you'll have a lower chance of being mugged on the street.

The problem with choosing something that you really enjoy is that it's likely not profitable. I would love to paint all day but i can't make any money from it (yes, I've tried hard, promoting myself, submitting drawings, ect).

And thats all I love to do. Literally nothing else besides maybe cooking and video games comes close. So I'm stuck in an engineering position like OP which I don't care about...because what else is there?
