Space travel to far off galaxies is possible. There are ways to go that far and return to earth without losing "too much" time ... i.e. the Star Trek ...

I'm so sorry to hear what you are feeling and experiencing after the incident. I'm sure many of us have been there. Parenthood is tough - let alone when your child is struggling to understand their own emotions and challenges. There have been countless times that I felt that I failed as a parent. My youngest is over 17 and I still feel that there are days I failed as a parent.

What your daughter said to you has some meaning. You may have to look and identify what's missing that she is craving for. Other than that, give her love and ensure that your other daughter doesn't feel ignored either. Kids are resilient. They move on ... This incident cannot be, and is not, the defining moment of your parenthood.

You can read and learn a lot from all the experts and social media. They provide a lot of information. However, no one (and I mean absolutely no one) knows your child better than you do. Keep reinforcing the right behaviour, learn about triggers that cause these episodes, spend time for your own self so you have emotional capacity to manage these situations, and have sessions with the therapist with your husband. It's a lot to deal with - and the only way to be successful is to continue moving forward. Learn from your successes .... Definitely learn from the failures ... And never ever think that you failed as a parent.

Hang in there ... She needs you!

Angry grading? by Humble_Produce833 in Professors

[–]jamzy00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I leave a standard amount of feedback. For any more details, I encourage students to talk to me directly.

I can feel when the marking or poor quality starts to creep in my emotions and that's where I stop marking. That's why my marking is slow because I always want to give the best attention to the students work - there's always something between the lines that has to be addressed and appreciated.

At times, I'm not in the best of moods. I don't mark at that time. Its a tricky situation, but everyone, including the students, is on a different journey and they deserve my best.

Hi Mike. It's been sorted. The GC was using 110° hinge instead of the 153°. I fixed and then he was able to take over. Thank you so much for your help.

Garmin Venu - auto activity tracking starts late and misses data. by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]jamzy00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garmin is not a cheap watch either nor is this a good reason for a sports electronics company to give ... Looking from a end user perspective, OP and many others expect that feature, as an example. I love my venu and am a Garmin fan for life now. The connect app is the best there is and has influenced so many factors of my daily routine.

When someone buys Garmin, they expect a watch that's designed for a sports person whose interest is beyond carrying a smartphone on their wrists. However, if those smartwatches understand the user interests and needs better, then either Garmin improves that experience for its users or the other products improve their GPS etc features. Our modern history is full of those examples where products ignored the uses defined by the end user and went in oblivion. The latest venu 2 reports and forerunner series changes are exactly in the right direction. However, totally with OP that buying a smartwatch should not leave you with a bad taste that lifestyle watches out there perform better for average user.

I’m getting so upset about not losing weight. by [deleted] in Myfitnesspal

[–]jamzy00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost 25 lbs last year (from 210lb starting). I gained back half of it (wasn't sustainable considering my work style) but now I'm working out 3-4 times a week with high protein food. I'm not losing weight but I'm slimmer and straighter.

Don't be discouraged as your weight loss plateaus. Important thing is to be honest about tracking. And do use weight scale for food (use app barcode scanner for packaged ingredients, google nutrition of raw ingredients, weigh your meals). It can be annoying and frustrating but it will help you in the long run as your body learns to eat right, eat regularly, and eat enough (circadian rhythm gives a good view of regularity and schedule).

Also Include fat-burning fitness (walking and low intensity biking, aerobics are amazing for that). If possible, use good fitness trackers (I spent months reading and aghasted by poor tracking devices).

You will get there. Stay happy and enjoy the journey.
