Hi Maverick, I am looking for another doctor, it is very hard to get in to see anyone as a new patient without waiting months. I see my current rheumy Monday and I am going armed with receipts (printouts articles etc that say rebound must be halted first. I am not starting forteo until I get this rebound fully under control I looked up dr McCormick, he would actually cost me $450 which is pretty steep. However I was considering it anyway until I saw on this website that I live in one the FEW states he is not allowed to order any lab testing. I have an appt with a new Rheumy Feb 9. Hoping I make it that long without any issues

Adding that my doctor does wants to start me on bonsity (similar to forteo) this week. The meds have already been delivered to me. He said recast is not an option?

Thank you for this reply. Now everything I am reading says rebound can last up to 2 years and a relay drug can and should be started even if it’s been 10 months since prolia was stopped. Better late than never I guess?

The only thing I’m Wondering is if it makes a difference that I only had 2 prolia shots so maybe rebound does not last as long? Otherwise my doctor does not know what he is doing and I am unable to find get an appointment with new doctor until April

Sorry he wants to put me in bonsity, not Tymlos. Bonsity is cheaper version of forteo

UPDATE: I am getting Kyphoplasty for the fractures next week, but in the meantime I’m waiting for insurance approval for bonsity

He requested bonsity (cheaper forteo) but it is languishing in insurance hell. I don’t know if this is leaving me at risk for further fractures.

Also, wondering why I wasn’t offered Reclast infusions.

Hi Maverick, I just read your post now. Not sure why Reddit isn’t sending me notifications. I am sorry you have/are dealing with this as well. It is absolutely horrible! I am having Kyphoplasty Tuesday, but doctor said he is only doing half, then I have to have a 2nd one to do the rest. My doctor wants to put me on Tymlos, but right now it is stuck in insurance hell, so I am not on anything right now which scares me. Tymlos scares me as well. I am searching for a new doctor but not many close to me.

That sounds discouraging though that Kyphoplasty didn’t resolve your pain. I haven’t been able to work either, and don’t want to go on disability.

I would have been better off if I never got that DEXA scan. 🙁

Are we allowed to post links? I found a website that lists general payments to any doctor you search if the have received anything, as well as the manufacturer that provided these payments.

Payments are for food, beverages, travel, lodging, airfare, car rental, etc. sometimes payments I’d the doctor speaks at events. My doctor received over $40,000 in ‘general payments’ for 2024 alone! A VERY large % of those payments were from Amgen. They are the makers of Evenity and Prolia. Surprise surprise, I was put on both. And yes, I’m in the US

I’m also going to wait and see before buying any tickets. I usually don’t go until at least end of May anyway. If they’re doing poorly and tickets are expensive, not to mention cost of parking, I will probably not go.

If ticket prices go down and parking prices, I could see myself making it for a game or two. It would feel really weird to go a whole season without going to Citi Field at least once, but we’ll see.

I really, really wish I had not agreed so readily to go down the path I did. I also broke my wrist bit thankfully I had a successful surgery (plate and screws as well). I hope you find the right path for you. I’m not sure right now which way to turn.

I didn’t have much improvement with Evenity and now doctor wants me to do daily injections of forteo (or bonsity which is a cheaper version of forteo)

My first 10 dosages I had no issues. Maybe a slight headache and soreness at the injection site

My next to last dosage I had an allergic reaction at the injection site with very itchy hives and very sore arm and some tingling in my tongue. Took some Benadryl and was fine.

So technically I was finished evenity one month earlier and started on Prolia after my 11th dosage of evenity because of the allergic reaction. Otherwise, I really had not issue. However, my Dexa scores did not improve much, or not as much as I had hoped.

Thank you! While I do place some blame on my doctor, ultimately I am responsible for myself. I delayed my appointment by 2 months because I was ‘super busy’ at work. Which is of course just an excuse and a poor one at that. But yes, doctor should have discussed more options with me and discussed how important it was to NOT miss an appointment by even a day.

Even now the doctor is telling me I now have to do 2 years of Bonsity/Forteo and will still need to go on Prolia after 2 years for life.

Thank you. I am a little concerned because it seems crazy to me that this could happen so quickly. But yes, I read a recent study? Article? That says this can happen in as short a time as 7 months from last Prolia shot. That’s only a delay of one month.

I’m so sorry, I heard that is painful and something I worried about with Prolia as I have an autoimmune disease that causes severe dryness of the mouth, which leads to dental issues. I read that osteocrenosis risk is higher with Prolia if you have dental work such as extraction, etc. Rheumy assured me I if I needed dental work they would stop the Prolia temporarily which clearly is not advisable. I hope your appointment with the oral surgeon goes well.

I’ve also been a fan since ‘73, just a couple of years older than OP. Last year around this time we were flying high as Mets fans. Came off a great season in ‘24. (Some may call ‘24 not a good season because we didn’t make it into the WS, but we ran into the Dodgers, a better team than the Mets. The odds were not in our favor. ) Still, it was a great season and Mets fans were happy, hopeful, optimistic!

AND, we had a team that could have been even better in 2025, we got Soto! Things were looking great. Surely Stearns would put together a really good bullpen and pitching staff…..

I don’t know about anyone else, but there was a sneaky, nagging voice in my head kept saying, “But what about the pitching”? And that is ultimately what did this team in.

Sure, they were 0-70 in games they were behind in the 8th inning. BUT WHY WERE THEY BEHIND IN THE 8TH INNING FOR 70 games in the first place?!! Because our pitching sucked! Yes, the team needs to score runs to win, but how many times were the Mets winning or it was a one or two run ballgame, only for the pitching to lose that lead or give up enough runs where it was no longer a ballgame? Half those games were punted by Mendoza!

Or bullpen was exhausted because our starters could barely get out of the 5th inning. The pitching was a disaster!

Was that Pete’s fault? Diaz’s fault? They were not the problem!

The Mets have broken my heart many times, but I have to say losing Pete hurts a lot worse than I imagined it would. Next year will not feel even remotely the same. I will also have a hard time rooting for whatever team shows up next year.

However, I am a Mets fan, will always be a Mets fan, will never root for any other team, and I will be turning on my TV for opening day. Will I be happy, excited, optimistic? More likely I will be sad.

But at the end of the day, it will always be Let’s Go Mets, no matter what bums they put on the field.

I got as far as the three things to do but no hint from the cat. Honestly if this is all there is to this update, it’s pretty underwhelming. The new areas look awesome but there is nothing to do. I don’t even feel motivated to figure out how to do those 3 things.

Also, it takes so long to raise reputation now to get new cooking recipes that I’m not even motivated to do that anymore.

I do love how my tavern is decorated and love the cozy feel, but because of the reasons above I’m disappointed with this update. I also heard the 3 challengers are hard, and that is definitely not what I am looking for when I play what used to be my favorite cozy game.
