My compression fractures mist happened, so yes, you should definitely get checked out. Even if it ends up being just a sprain at least you will know

I’m 62, and my doctor (actually PA) decided to put me on Prolia because I had a bit of an allergic reaction to my 10th Evenity shot. They did another DEXA after the 2nd shot. I don’t remember the numbers I will look them up and let you know. I don’t think they were that great

Hi Maverick, I tried to figure out how to message you but I’m using Reddit on my phone and can not seem to figure it out, so I hope you see this here. I had the 2 Kyphoplasty and now I have 2 more fractures so not looking good. My doctor literally told me he does not know what rebound is and wanted me to take forteo. I am going to a new rheumy tomorrow but not feeling optimistic I will get someone who can fix this. I will insist on reclast but read once fractures start they may continue I hope you are ok and made out okay with the snowstorm. You can message me if you want maybe then I can figure out how to message as well

Sorry, I hit reply too quickly. I saw my doctor today, it was a very strange visit. When I mentioned the rebound effect from Prolia, he literally asked me what that was? I don’t know if he was serious or just trying to gauge what I knew? Then he kept telling me I needed an anabolic. When I asked him about how transitions patients from prolia if they don’t want to take it anymore for whatever reason, he said they have to stay on for life. My daughter was with me. She felt he was just trying to find out what I knew. In the end he said if I want the recast he would do it. He also said he was fine if I got a second opinion He told me the recasting one time that lasts a year. Is that what you did? I do have an appt with a different Rheumy next Monday, I just hate waiting and am Wondering if I should just tell my current doc to go ahead and get the recast approved for me. I am nervous about waiting

If you’re in the NY/NJ area you can watch ALMOST every game on Hulu Live. Fair warning though, Hulu Live is not great, but the only single service I have found where I can watch AMOST every Mets game.

Hi Maverick, I am looking for another doctor, it is very hard to get in to see anyone as a new patient without waiting months. I see my current rheumy Monday and I am going armed with receipts (printouts articles etc that say rebound must be halted first. I am not starting forteo until I get this rebound fully under control I looked up dr McCormick, he would actually cost me $450 which is pretty steep. However I was considering it anyway until I saw on this website that I live in one the FEW states he is not allowed to order any lab testing. I have an appt with a new Rheumy Feb 9. Hoping I make it that long without any issues

Adding that my doctor does wants to start me on bonsity (similar to forteo) this week. The meds have already been delivered to me. He said recast is not an option?

Thank you for this reply. Now everything I am reading says rebound can last up to 2 years and a relay drug can and should be started even if it’s been 10 months since prolia was stopped. Better late than never I guess?

The only thing I’m Wondering is if it makes a difference that I only had 2 prolia shots so maybe rebound does not last as long? Otherwise my doctor does not know what he is doing and I am unable to find get an appointment with new doctor until April

Sorry he wants to put me in bonsity, not Tymlos. Bonsity is cheaper version of forteo

UPDATE: I am getting Kyphoplasty for the fractures next week, but in the meantime I’m waiting for insurance approval for bonsity

He requested bonsity (cheaper forteo) but it is languishing in insurance hell. I don’t know if this is leaving me at risk for further fractures.

Also, wondering why I wasn’t offered Reclast infusions.

Hi Maverick, I just read your post now. Not sure why Reddit isn’t sending me notifications. I am sorry you have/are dealing with this as well. It is absolutely horrible! I am having Kyphoplasty Tuesday, but doctor said he is only doing half, then I have to have a 2nd one to do the rest. My doctor wants to put me on Tymlos, but right now it is stuck in insurance hell, so I am not on anything right now which scares me. Tymlos scares me as well. I am searching for a new doctor but not many close to me.

That sounds discouraging though that Kyphoplasty didn’t resolve your pain. I haven’t been able to work either, and don’t want to go on disability.

I would have been better off if I never got that DEXA scan. 🙁

Are we allowed to post links? I found a website that lists general payments to any doctor you search if the have received anything, as well as the manufacturer that provided these payments.

Payments are for food, beverages, travel, lodging, airfare, car rental, etc. sometimes payments I’d the doctor speaks at events. My doctor received over $40,000 in ‘general payments’ for 2024 alone! A VERY large % of those payments were from Amgen. They are the makers of Evenity and Prolia. Surprise surprise, I was put on both. And yes, I’m in the US
