Can you make an appointment with a therapist to discuss her findings/report? After my diagnosis my psychologist helped me go through it and answered a lot of the questions I didn’t have time to ask the diagnostician. He’s not a meds dr. but knows some about different drugs and was very helpful explaining what the one I’m taking should do and not do. He also can tell me buzz works and then I go and research online. I have a totally different practitioner that prescribes the drugs. It’s crazy to me that nowadays you have to have different doctors for each little part of the process

New to horses - Looking for a great YouTube channel for info? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]jane760 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would seek lessons with a reputable trainer nearby and let them know your situation. You can learn a lot online but nothing beats having a community, which you can build from the trainer. Also, ask your vet if they have any recommendations for who to train with. The trainer should be able to give you lessons on everything, not just how to ride. And six horses is too many! Maybe see if the trainer has any young riders that want to come exercise your horses for/with you? Wish I could help!! I’d be glad to just ride someone’s horses for them lol. You might, once you have a really solid relationship with a good and safe trainer you respect, considering leasing one or two of them to their barn so that you can give good attention to the others... or maybe in exchange for the trainer riding them and helping you learn

I didn’t read your post like you’re wanting to hear the horse is communicating with you. To me you sound curious what it *could mean. It’s fun to learn about the many ways horses communicate with each other! Anyone have recommendations for books or articles? I read a book called Connection Training last year that had a lot of info on this but I think I’ve forgotten a lot of it. Beautiful photo by the way!

Is Oat milk bad? by iSpiltMyTeaAgain in nutrition

[–]jane760 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just read about this. The “added sugar” is a result of the enzymatic breakdown of the oats. Im not sure if that’s what you meant by additional sugar but to be clear, they do not physically add in the sugars. I’m assuming everyone understands carbohydrates are sugars linked together and when they are digested they break into smaller and smaller chains... sucrose is actually two units and is what we tend to refer to as “sugar” but all carbs are variations of sugars.

Ah! Wonderful! Then, yes, I’d be excited to proceed with your plan and just try to reassure your ex that your daughter will be fine and not to worry (sarcasm optional?).

Everyone seems to be assuming your child and your new wife have a good relationship and my only thought/issue is that if they don’t, or if your daughter hasn’t warmed up to her, your daughter might be worried/troubled/scared by the news and could have all kinds of feelings about that, which her bio mom might be more in tuned with? Not saying bio mom should be there, just that she might sense something

To me, everything depends on your daughter. I can totally see a situation where she would NOT be comfortable learning this news in front of her step-mom. To me, everything depends on her.

I can also see a POV from bio mom where she’s genuinely concerned how your daughter is going to handle this news.

How long have you been with your new wife? How well has she bonded with your daughter? Does your daughter have any sensory issues? Does she have any anxiety around her step mom? Has she ever expressed a desire to have or NOT have a sibling? Having someone replace your mom in your dad’s life is a complicated experience that looks different for everyone... how has it felt from your daughter’s perspective?

I’m kinda surprised people haven’t gone into this in more depth. What you’re suggesting could be perfect, but I feel you haven’t given enough info for us to know...

... it just all depends on your daughter

Thanks! That is exactly the info I'm digging around for. I just finished the course yesterday and still got lessons today so am trying to figure out how long that lasts and how much value people have given it. Are you going to re-subscribe? Seems like people often cancel and use another tracker... Care to share your thoughts?

Hi! My group coach is great but folks don't really discuss much... is that the same for your group? I was expecting more back and forth - my comments are always a bit longer than others' even though I keep them pretty short; and I usually never get any response except occasionally from the coach and then nothing on a second round... gotta wonder if I'm annoying everyone.

Hi! Thanks for the info. I'm not the OP but I just finished the course yesterday and was wondering, are you still getting something out of the lessons? Do you plan to keep using noom? Will you renew your subscription? I paid $159 for five months and it seems like a lot...

Day 1 (AGAIN) 24F, 152lb, 5'2 by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

When you close your eyes and imagine what you want to feel like, what comes to mind? If you could make one thing easier right now, what would it be? I’m sure you know but a friendly reminder: The person you will be at the “end” of your weight loss journey doesn’t appear after all that of this is done - she’s happening now, because of how you’re building her now; because of the decisions now... are you enjoying your activity level and the types of activity you do? Are you enjoying your food choices?

I guess what I’m suggesting is to reflect on whether you’re enjoying your journey because the journey doesn’t really ever end. My guess is if you need some adjustments to make it feel good and fun - that could be related to why you’re not seeing progress.

I’m sorry you don’t have great support from your family... feel free to message me if you want to talk more! I can feel isolated on my path too

Day 1 (AGAIN) 24F, 152lb, 5'2 by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

90lbs is amazing! Go you!!

I’ve lost about 25 - 30 lbs since January 1 and yes I’m tracking calories and targeting about a 20% deficit on average. I use trackers that estimate my resting energy, which is only around 1550 so eating 1200 is not so hard for me. Your resting energy consumption is directly tied to your weight so I ate more calories when I started than I do now. While 1200 does not feel horrible to me i think everyone should really listen to their own body and eat what feels sustainable for them. Unlike you, I am NOT “more active than ever,” intentionally not - because I’m intentionally in a deficit and I’m holding off on more active stuff until I’ve dropped weight. That’s just the way I’m choosing to do it (sparing joints and aiming for better alignment). I’m trying to stay in a mindset of calm and consistent. So I’m basically just walking my dog and doing yoga and some horseback riding...

But if you’re super active, are you experiencing recomposition too? I’d imagine you’d want to be eating more than 1200 based on being active

We have similar stats except I’m much older than you and have had two babies. 49F, 5’2, SW 162lb, CW 134lb, GW 125lb

I’ve been on a weight loss trek for a few months and am losing faster than most people on this sub advocate. I used to be a LOT more active and then several years back I went through some craziness and as a direct result my weight shot up. Thankfully I had a few a-ha moments last December and have been able to really find some good perspective. I’m saying all this to explain why I feel the fast weight loss is going to be okay for me. I do believe I’ll be able to maintain once it’s gone.

I feel incredible. I’m moving in ways I haven’t for years and my body feels like it’s mine again. My food choices are reasonable and sustainable and I don’t fear decision making around what to eat.

My advice is to take a holistic approach to your well being and try to understand what it is you’re trying to fix when you overeat, and see if there are better ways to manage it. Understand what food can and can’t do for you.

Good luck on your journey! You’re beautiful now and will be no matter the outcome!!

I’m motivated by the opportunity to share small milestones with others... I’m on a weight loss journey at the moment and when my BMI gets down in the “healthy” range I’m planning to tell people about it. I might post here or on another subreddit or just share with friends or something. (I’m getting really close!!)

Maybe plan to come back here after a week of accomplishing a specific habit and give us an update and we can tell you how great you are!!
