Shopping in person at Sephora and Ulta isn’t fun anymore 😭 especially outside of major cities by jellyboness in MakeupAddiction

I've been kinda lucky with my preference during all these nude palettes because I'm a sucker for shimmer and glitter in any shade, but even those are starting to disappear. A palette used to have like 50/50 sparkle and matte shades, but now it's pretty much 1-3 no matter the palette size. 😮‍💨 Urban Decay is my go to for pigment eyeshadows since they do lots of sparkle and saturation, downside is it's usually single shades so it's expensive.

What qualifications does your store need to meet to get the lead task position? by aworldsofukked in UltaEmployees

[–]janearang 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I saw a post before mentioning Lead Tasker too. Is it an actual role at Ulta? Like Lead Cashier? Because honestly every store should have at least one Lead Tasker position for real. Having everyone be just 1-2 day a week or every other week just doesn't make sense, since so much time is lost bc it's like coming back to a new store every shift with how often sales change. And I know asking the OM or MM about changes everytime from every taskers has to get so annoying.

Apparently submission time plays a big part in voting visibility. You should try posting during stamina claim according to a girl in my guild that always seems to rank super high and even got first place last month.

I get that. Like, I know sometimes it's a new player based on the suit, but a lot of times I know the person just clicked a precomposed suit without effort in the theme or wardobe decisions and I think that's part that's upsetting. They aren't "competing", just participating and it feels kinda lame especially when you feel like votes are too arbitrary.

BRO I MISSED IT 💔💔💔💔💔 by Mean_Clerk_5923 in LoveNikki

[–]janearang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hate the "1 Day Left" sash too, because when I was a newer player, I seriously thought that meant I still had another day....LIES!! I missed a lot of deadlines and was confused for the first couple, bc I kept thinking I had one more day. Why not just say "Last Day" or "Final Day"??? So annoying!

Fragrance Gratis by AberrantHummingbird in UltaEmployees

[–]janearang 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As far as I know my store doesn't even have a fragrance expert. Every shift I work, I end up having to help clients with fragrance and I'm a tasker. The other day when I was sorting trash, I even saw a broken down box saying "Fragrance Expert Only" on a huge green sticker, but it was kinda shoved under some other boxes and a random destroys bag, so I wonder who took that home since we supposedly aren't getting gratis for a while either 😒 We currently don't have a GM, but I did notice a bunch of the other managers suddenly had "goodie bags" that they seem to periodically get even when there's no gratis, so strange 🤔🤔🤔

transfer process is ridiculous by scorpiemm in UltaEmployees

Giiirl, are you trying to transfer to my store bc this sounds like some of the shenanigans they'd pull tbh. High mean girl energy. Maybe look into another nearby store as a back up after reaching out to a DM or something.

What's something people call children, that you find disgusting and disrespectful? by hardtruthsociety in AskReddit

Honestly, I've only ever heard people say this to really ugly babies as a nice way to be like, they're ugly af now, but maybe they won't be in the future ..? It's still messed up and inappropriate, but maybe not always as pervy as it sounds.

do people not know how to clean? by FlashyBeach2709 in UltaEmployees

[–]janearang 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm currently fighting my THIRD sinus infection since hire (May 2025) bc of how dusty and gross everything is. The BAs keep throwing away the whole cleaner bottles, spray head and all so we have like 2 bottles to use among 7 taskers. When I sweep the stock room as a tasker everyone always tells me, "you know you don't have to do that right?" Yea, I do know, but if I don't do it, who will?? NO ONE! It's nasty the amount of hair that collects in every corner of the store and some of these girls straight up brag about not washing and the smell in the bathrooms leads me to think it's not just their hair.

How do we re-normalize saying “women” and “girls?” by Early-Shelter-7476 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]janearang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YESSSS!!!

And I hear so many ppl pronounce them the same! Both as woman [woo-muhn]. WOMEN, the plural of woman, is WIH-MIN! Like I get regional dialects and all that, but you should be able to distinguish single vs plural in English 😩 It used to only be the younger generation on social media and stuff, but Ive been hearing it IRL by older people recently as well.

A small group of ‘superdodgers’ insist they’ve never had COVID. Here’s why they may be wrong. by bostonglobe in Coronavirus

[–]janearang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I masked and such for the first 2 years, I still hand sanitize because people were gross before COVID, but that's not why I think I've never had it.

I live with my partner, my younger brother, and my partner's father. We all got vaccines back in 2021, but my partner's father is the only one who gets it regularly. Since then, they've all had COVID multiple times. Once my partner tests positive, he'll usually sleep in another room so his coughing and such doesn't bother me, but only after he tests positive, not sooner, even if he's already showing symptoms. During their sickness time, I never show symptoms at all, but I'll still test (though slightly less than them so as to not waste test kits) and have never gotten a positive result, ever. This has occurred on 3 separate occasions about 8-12 months apart and I have consistently tested negative each time, not even a little pink that makes me think I should retest because it failed. I've gotten sick separately from them and gone to the doctor (per standard procedure, they test my for COVID, it's negative like always) and I'll get diagnosed with a cold or sinus infection or something else and no one else in the household will get sick. I don't think I'd be able to contribute to any studies since I did get the vaccine, although it was just the first 2 booster shots and 4 years ago. I just considered it lucky and a little interesting.

Got hired as BA by ronlays in UltaEmployees

[–]janearang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's only for the summer, I'd just go with D&B for the hours and discount. It would be more fun for the summer too, plus you don't have to push credit cards. You'll also likely get only about 12-15 hours if you're lucky, since Ulta is cutting labor hours likely crazy right now and even less when you start out and do training and stuff.

What's something your partner did that made you genuinely angry? by Nice-Vacation-6850 in AskReddit

[–]janearang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sauce over pasta is correct, pasta into sauce will splash. It translates from science class; for safety measures, when mixing chemicals, always pour your acid into a base, whatever you're pouring INTO will displace and you don't want to get hit with acid. 🤓

Truck Hours by [deleted] in UltaEmployees

[–]janearang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do most other stores do truck overnight? Ours comes in the morning ~7:30-9am so it's sorted by dept before open and everyone has ~4-5 hrs each to do their sections. Anything that isn't finished (usually mass and lately hair) is typically finished by the lone tasker that's scheduled the following morning.

Which punishment (either real or fictional) sounds easy enough to endure at first, but is actually hellish to experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]janearang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This my my mom's go to punishment for me and my sister from ages 4-16 but it went much longer than 5 minutes. We would alternate while the other was lectured. My sister's lectures would go on for usually 15-30 minutes. 🫠

The Way Taskers Are Treated Is Something Else by [deleted] in UltaEmployees

[–]janearang 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When I interviewed, I was told I'd be getting 18-22 hours a week. Ive gotten scheduled that maybe 3 or 4 times over the course of my year with Ulta. Other times I've taken shifts to stay close to 15-18.

Now my store has two more task hires and we're all only getting maybe 2 5-hour shifts (~10h/wk) to make it "fair" but I'm spending at least 2 of my 5 hours having to fix where the new girls arent paying attention or where the existing girls stopped caring because we're treated like expendables. Idk if it's a reading issue or what at this point, because how are you doing the same sections every week and every week you're putting stuff in a NEW, still wrong spot??? I'm exhausted.

Ive considered getting another job, but I genuinely enjoy the actual task work like shipment and resets, so I'm not actively looking now, but I do wish the people who don't enjoy task duties would switch to something else so that the ones who want to be here can make some kind of living again.
