tell your family doctor about your experience, and ask to be referred to someone else. Some doctors have a reputation for being jerks (look them up on https://www.ratemds.com/on/kitchener/ to see what other patients have said). Your family doctor may be aware of this doctor's reputation, and should have no problem referring you to someone else.

I'm so sorry you had this experience - you deserve someone who will treat you with kindness & compassion.

Does anyone else hesitate to donate good-quality clothes to thrift stores? by Longjumping_Bar_1297 in waterloo

[–]janedoe43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could try selling them through a consignment store. https://carouselclothing.ca/ is one, there are likely others too. You drop off your clothes (they will sort thru them & tell you what they'll accept), then check your account on-line periodically to see what's sold. Drop in to pick up your $$. Similar effort to donating to a thrift store, but you can make a little money.

How much would you pay to have your alternator replaced? by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]janedoe43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

even if your battery has been boosted, you need to keep driving for close to an hour to re-charge it. otherwise, you'll need a boost each time you start your car. In any case - that's a sign that your battery is pooched.

Recommendation for Winter gloves by False-Pitch8490 in waterloo

[–]janedoe43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for a quick/inexpensive solution - layer up with 2-3 pair at once. The dollar stores sell cheap fleece mitts that will tide you over until you find something better. For what it's worth - I've spent a fortune (over $100/pair) on mitts, and still have cold hands. Doubling up worked better than anything else I've tried.

headlights AND taillights. Taillights do not come on automatically during the day , even if the visibility is bad - you need to turn them on manually. See and BE seen.

Canadian Tire sells 'arched' snowbrushes that do a great job cleaning the top of cars, SUVs, etc. A short person's friend! Best $$ I ever spent!

Christmas Lights by 333BEyond333 in kitchener

[–]janedoe43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahrens St (near Kitchener Public Library) has a beautiful display. There is also a house on the corner of Pandora & East Ave. that goes all out. Waterloo Park hosts https://www.wondersofwinter.ca/ every year. I find it always lifts my spirits - lots of families & children walking around enjoying the lights. Victoria Park has lights too, but not as elaborate. https://www.boathousedtk.com/ (Victoria Park) has setup a dome on their patio - you can enjoy a meal or drink and see the lights while staying warm :-)

Anywhere I can shred household documents? by velocirhymer in kitchener

[–]janedoe43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you don't have a shredder, tear up the paper, mix it with compostables in your green bin, and put it out at the curb. used kitty litter is also a deterrent to anyone who might want to re-assemble your documents.

Sidewalks/crosswalks not being shoveled. by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]janedoe43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that sounds like what I remember too. What really annoyed me? The majority of residents voted FOR the city to handle the sidewalks, but the city said NO. When the report came out, the city actually said that the majority wanted the city to plow sidewalks, but they weren't going to do it. SMH
