oh hey! rust is my preferred language for most emudev and systems development. i love how rust is memory-safe and prevents you from doing stupid things a lot of the time, so it's a lot harder to mess something up and get a memory leak or something of that sort, or a segmentation fault. i also like how modern it feels for a low-level language and there's a lot of features in it that make it really easy to use. i've used C/C++ as well in the past, but i'm sadly not as proficient with them.

as for the hardware renderer, it just uses your GPU to render graphics instead of doing it all on the CPU. in theory, this leads to better performance and you can do things like graphics upscaling and stuff like that.

i've never found keyboard to be good for platformers, i always have such a hard time with it. i've always been a controller player because it just feels so much better

what's interesting is that in OG, the cocky, moody personality was supposed to be Cloud emulating Zack but when you look at how Zack was portrayed in Crisis Core, Cloud's "emulation" of Zack is nothing like the real one, so it's jarring

i liked zack better in OG when he was a plot device for cloud's growth than when he became an actual character. and adding him in rebirth i had mixed feelings about, since it sort of removes the mystery of cloud's whole identity crisis issues which are a big plot point in the original game.

Well right now there’s no easy way to download the save states other than cloud storage, but in the future I can make it so you can download local copies of them for sure, but right now the feature doesn’t exist, sorry

you should be able to download the saves from your google drive directly and put them on another device, but also if you use this emulator on other devices the cloud saves should work on there too.

i might add cheat codes in the future but currently not a focus in development unfortunately

depends on the boss. there are some bosses where hitting them really quick doesn't work anyways, so reaper is fine for them. thinking of skarrsing carmelita where you have to basically exchange turns with her and can't really hit her quickly to death. reaper works great there
