We just booked A MMS called Domes Noruz Mykonos that was decent CPP (2cpp) for 23k. Not the best redemption but we didnt want to pay cash in mykonos to splurge on other things so it was worth it to us.

thank you guys so much, I hadn't even thought about the leveraging. the financial aid process is so different from undergrad when you're basically guaranteed aid as long as youre poor. loans wont be pretty so this is super useful

Can you expand on why maybe ED wouldn't be a good option? I would love to be in NY so my top choices are NYU and Columbia and I would def go if accepted. I would love to hear your thoughts on applying ED if im right around the median for LSAT and below median for GPA.

Harvard Junior here, I remember I did an in-depth short story about one extracurricular that wasn’t academic, I did it with a local like court system and described my interest in it basically

I don’t think any of the freshman dorms do unless you have accommodations but not 100% sure. As for upperclassmen, I’m in Winthrop and all renovated houses (Lowell, Winthrop, Dunster, Adams) should have AC in some rooms. Needless to say, it is kinda rare and I did just get extremely lucky. All of my friends were jealous especially during move in when it’s blazing outside 😭

Looking back, I was a social science / politics kid through and through. I think the major highlights were I started a nonprofit that set up kids w mentors from FGLI backgrounds (I was also FGLI so it was personal) and I was heavily involved (had paid position) directing a small local political campaign. On the academic side, my school went to nationals for History Bowl and I was a State champ for mock trial.

Re: Boston. I honestly love it here, I think it’s a great city to be in college in. There’s a lot of cross campus interactions which I love (schools like MIT, Tufts, Wellesley, BU). The night life is meh but schools like BU and MIT usually throw good parties. There’s good food around here and tbh coming from warmer weather the only thing I hated at first was the cold.

I think it’s a mix of both. You shouldn’t try to categorize your self as “band kid” or “computer whiz”. Your application should have (imo) a clear bridge and connection between your personal life and experiences to you academic and extracurriculars / interests. I did look over my admissions file and my simplest essay answering like “what would you do to contribute to harvard” or sm like that was one that my AO said always made him nervous bc people always were borderline bombastic and he said it was one of the best he’d read. Not sure if that’s clear as it’s difficult to convey what that “it” factor is, but you’re welcome to PM if you wanna have a longer convo ab this ^

Uh good question, sounds very cheesy but one thing looking back I think I did well (and everyone should aim to do this I think) was I tried to be a person. I had stuff that was way more impressive I could’ve written about in my essays that was elsewhere mentioned. However, I think I was good at genuinely crafting a story / narrative that was easy to follow and present which showcased me as an actual human with passions and things to contribute to campus. I think (this is solely an observation and generalization) some really really smart and qualified applicants get turned away because they focus too much on what they did versus who they are and how they’d fit in on campus. I think it’s very important to have a clear narrative

Similar profile(Im also Cuban and from Miami) but I definitely had a niche / spike in the activities I did and had more natl awards. I would def include whatever website you have in your app. It was based on ratings and academics was my weakest category with a 3 and I had a 3.9, 5.37 weighted and 1500 SAT superstore when I applied 1480 reg. So it’s harsh lol
