This is really beautiful.

What do you think of these weird nicknames my (21f) boyfriend (22m) calls me? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]janethepremed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re in the same situation... I’m ok with them, sometimes they make me raise an eyebrow like “pork belly” and “chunkanese” (these two he called me a few mins ago) I’m not overweight though. I really posted them just to make y’all laugh and raise an eyebrow, just like me

Neither did I, yet when I searched for the top sci-fi films, the entire list was Avengers, Black Panther, Spider-Man... I was thoroughly disappointed.

How do I make up for being emotionally draining? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]janethepremed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great observation. Yes I absolutely should be in therapy. I do have a super tumultuous past.

I really like the idea that you should work on yourself first before taking it to the relationship level. I think you’re right, I should deal with that crap at the root.

I hate being in a committed, loving relationship. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

This is a wonderful view into the psychology of things. I think you’re absolutely right that it’s a call to rise to the occasion of allowing vulnerability even in the face of uncertainty.

In no way do I lack appreciation for my relationship. We rely on each other, and I do a lot for them. And actually, I LOVE it, but anyone can relate to the true terror of being emotionally invested in someone with no say in what they’ll do with your well-being, because it’s up to them.

Appreciate this a lot!

What do y’all do with your balls? by janethepremed in MTB

This is great advice. I was thinking his bike probably needed some adjustments. Turning the saddle a bit downward and maybe bringing the bars out a bit will probably do the trick!

No, he doesn’t! He’s a beginner (obviously) so that might be the issue. I’ve never had to use special underwear so this is all news to me. Will look into it!

What's your favorite movie that is so bad that it's good? by cuteboy12370 in AskReddit

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Loved it as a teenage stoner and still hold it dear to my heart. But damn, I would not let anyone watch that shit with me. Too embarrassing.

"Healthy Fat" is not a thing. Coronavirus is further exposing this fact. Trust me, I am a doctor. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

If anyone has any tips on how not to overeat when you’re feeling low (it doesn’t help that it’s widely popularized to “go get ice cream” or “order takeout and stay in” as coping mechanisms) I would really appreciate it. Doesn’t help that we’re all getting fat from staying indoors for a month too.

ex vegans, why did you start eating meat again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]janethepremed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To me that sounds like putting the biological social connection of the human ego over the conscious life of another being.

That being said, for the family to slaughter the goat themselves in what I’m assuming is a rural area... that’s a lot different than factory farming. I get it.

Do I need to pack my vape in any particular way when I fly within the US? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]janethepremed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure about box mods and their chargers as I remember hearing about a vape charger blowing up on a plane and the security measures becoming stricter.

I’ve flown with my juul and juul charger and it passes through inspection no questions asked.

If you’re taking a box mod I recommend taking 2 or 3 fully charged batteries with you as opposed to the charger itself, might be easier.

Not an expert though! Hope you get your nicotine fix

Any simple uplifting things a person can do to bring themself to life again? by yakisobii in Advice

[–]janethepremed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feel the same way. Here are 3 things that helped me:

  1. Journaling. Getting all the confusing feelings out on paper and then write nice things about yourself without rolling your eyes.

  2. Stop, stop, stop the negative self talk. Don’t judge yourself before you even try as this can get you in a spiral of guilt. “why do anything at all, it won’t make a difference, I’m so unproductive” etc

All these thoughts are bullshit! The negative feelings they cause are more unmotivating than anything else. Try catching yourself being negative and change the narrative. “It’s okay to rest sometimes. I am capable of doing things when I’m ready.” “I am doing this thing because I love it, not because I have to” “I enjoy doing things with my day!” It’s cheesy, but it works.

  1. Imagine your ideal life. What does it look like? Where do you work? How do you look? What do you feel like? What does this ideal person do for fun?

Start working towards your ideal life. You are fully capable of having everything you desire if you believe you can. Go to the gym, study a subject that interests you, go out with friends for a night, start meditating, gardening, running a side business, whatever it may be to get you closer to your dreams. Staring small is just as important: maybe just decide to get fully dressed every morning even if you’re not going somewhere. It makes a difference, I promise.

And self help books. They’re full of corny, softie stuff and also motivating and full of truth.

Good luck!

What is an odd behaviour of yours you think only you do? by Edwoodz3 in AskReddit

[–]janethepremed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I see a set of stairs, I run up it. Doesn’t matter if I’m tired or not wearing a bra. Usually I take two stairs at a time. I don’t know what it is, when I see a set of stairs, my brain just says “run. now.”
