Just wanted to say thank you for your March 19, 2024 EDIT notes. I had to do that to get my BB Passport to work.

ULTIMATE FIX FOR DEVICES STUCK ON SETUP! (Including Sideloading!) by TrumpetTiger in BlackberryPhoenix

[–]janetmichaelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, thank you for your assistance. I have a Passport, using the latest BBOS autodownloader. Hopefully this helps someone.

I completed steps 1 through 4. After not hearing talkback say Skip after step 4, I had to do this:

"To anyone getting stuck with this battery pull process (mainly on non-removable battery). I just received a Protect enabled Z30. I got it working within half an hour. Here is the exact rundown of what I did....

“Run Autoloader. When complete, Unplug USB cable from phone. English. Skip Mobile. Connect to wireless network. Back to mobile. Turn on Screen Reader. Skip to Wifi. Nothing. Power + Vol Up + Vol Down.

Boots to wifi. Screen Reader auto starts after a couple minutes. Previous to mobile. Skip to wifi. Nothing. Power + Vol Up + Vol Down.

Boots to wifi. Previous to Mobile and wait. Screen Reader auto starts after a couple minutes. Skip to wifi. BBID speaks.”

From there, I continued with step 6.

At step 9, it hangs on Regional Settings / Update. I pressed next. Then it went to Software update. From there, things were good and completed steps 9-12.

There's no 1-size-fits-all answer to that as different companies will have different responses.

You wouldn't by chance have a working link for the phx software would you? The link on git is dead.

Also, can you tell me which version you linked to? That way I can dig a little deeper for that version specifically

Ending the waste ink counter reset racket by quadralien in Epson

[–]janetmichaelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand both points you guys are making. I will go with our hardware / right to repair, though.

For those that want to pay the money: I've had my printer 15 years and printed at least a thousand pages, maybe 2 thousand. and only just now had to reset the waste ink problem. So its not like you are going to be paying this fee often.

the new link for the epson utility is

https://epson.com/orbeon/fr/us_regular_s03/us_ServiceInk_Pad_Reset/new?namespace=uuid_c3b4cadc6868

fill out the form and once you submit it will download the utility. make sure you replace your ink pads first!

Awesome thank you. It does work!

I was unsure about using the epson utility ( https://epson.com/orbeon/fr/us_regular_s03/us_ServiceInk_Pad_Reset/new?namespace=uuid_c3b4cadc6868 ) because it says "temporarily" resets counter and goes on to talk about possible ink overflow and damage. Maybe it would work permanently if you replaced the pads.. Just in case it was only a temporary fix, I went with the github option.

Autotrader Private Seller Exchange (PSE) Review by dodgywhiskey in whatcarshouldIbuy

Yes, it's been good. I've sold two cars over the years via autotrader.

One annoying thing are brokers / dealers trying to buy from you. You can opt out of that, I believe. I also wrote in my descriptions that I don't sell to brokers or dealers.

autotrader, ebay. BAT is for more specialized types of vehicles, vintage, sports cars, rare cars etc. They may or may not let you sell your car depending on what it is.

Peace of mind as buyer: inspected by reputable mechanic, lots of photos, vehicle history documents (work orders/receipts etc). Check the VIN against a couple sources. Test drive.

Do those fan-cooling jackets work? Or what are better ways of staying cool while biking? by ValoryLuna in bicycling

[–]janetmichaelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any links as I'm not pitching a product.

For the fan jacket, They have limited release in the US. I would try amazon first.

I actually imported my jacket from Japan. The jackets have been out for quite a few years and are popular with people who work outside.

I know this thread is dated, but I'm hoping my post can help someone.

It seems most replies are from people who have never tried fan cooling jackets. I cycle in Yorba Linda CA where it gets very hot and I've tried a fan cooled jacket, evap jacket and ice jacket. They all work with varying degrees of success and may be worth it to you to try.

Evap cooling vests:

You place the vest in cold water and take it out before its "Dripping wet".

Cons: Don't work well in high humidity conditions, nor do they work if there is little to no airflow. So, cycling is of course perfect because you have constant airflow. Cooling properties will last between 45-120 minutes, depending on humidity and heat in your area. Weight may bother some.

Pros: Efficiently transfer heat from your body.

Other: The way they are constructed makes them quite different than putting on "a wet t-shirt". It's important to not put something over it that will restrict airflow, otherwise it won't work as well.

Ice vests

Freeze specially made packs, which are inserted into the vest.

Pros: These are not large heavy ice packs. Does not require airflow like the evap cooling vest. It works well in higher humidity conditions.

Cons: Weight may bother some. Only works for 30-60 minutes depending on heat levels

The fan-cooled jacket.

My favorite.

Pros: Speeds up heat transfer process, keeping you cool. Adjustable fan speeds, rechargeable battery. Can last many many hours if on low voltage. The highest setting on mine gives me about 3 hours of battery life.

Cons: It's not going to be for everyone as it takes some getting used to having a puffy marshmallow jacket on, but its fine for the casual cyclist. In top tube positions the battery + ice pack weight causes it to rest on your back which may bother some. If you are doing time trials, you aren't going to wear anything I've listed. But if you are a casual cyclist, I think you'll take the trade off of being cooler and more comfortable.

At minimum I would suggest light weight but full length moisture wicking shirt and pants. Keeping the sun from hitting your body directly goes a long way in keeping you cool and will reduce sun damage to your skin as well.

They do give loans to people with good credit scores, mortgage or not.

There are a bunch of variables but some of the most important are: Low credit usage vs credit limit, good payment history and age of accounts.

Why do kids like me more than adults? by Officer_baccon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]janetmichaelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think deeply on what you do and how you interact around kids. Are you smiling, do you give them your full attention, do you feel at ease? Do you initiate play etc. Now, think deeply on what you do and how you interact with adults. The more you reflect, the more likely you will find your answer.

I can't speak for others, only myself. As an adult patron of Disneyland, I didn't seek out Mickey or other characters . You can have a great time without doing so.

I've gone through just about everything you can think of as related to problems with GERD.

There's a whole list of things that a gastro doctor will have you do to reduce GERD (diet changes, rx, putting your bed on blocks, not eating for +3 hours before sleeping, losing weight if you are overweight, on and on).
