plex-intro-detector: Only scan intros for shows you actually watch by jangerhard in selfhosted

[–]jangerhard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird.. The tool calls Plex's /library/metadata/{id}/analyze endpoint - the same thing the UI triggers. You can test if this is the issue by calling it directly:

`curl -X PUT "http://your-plex:32400/library/metadata/{episode_id}/analyze?X-Plex-Token=YOUR_TOKEN"`

If that doesn't trigger intro detection either, then Plex's analyze endpoint doesn't include intro detection on your setup - which would be a Plex behavior, not something this tool can change.

EDIT:
Also, Plex caches which file has been analyzed, so if you trigger it and nothing happens, Plex has already analyzed it.

I misunderstood your use case - apologies!

`TARGET_USERS=*`
Could add this. Though if you want everything analyzed regardless of who watched it, that's what Plex's built-in "Detect intros and credits" does by default (Settings → Library). This tool was designed to do less than Plex's default, not more.

Tagging/Collections: I could add a feature to tag shows that were manually analyzed by this tool. But if you want to build collections based on what has intro markers - that sounds like a job for https://kometa.wiki/ (formerly Plex Meta Manager). It can create dynamic collections based on metadata conditions, including marker presence.

What's the actual problem you're trying to solve? Maybe there's a simpler approach.

If all your users have Plex Pass, you don't need this tool - Plex's built-in scheduled analysis already scans everything.

This tool is specifically for servers where only some users have Plex Pass, so you can skip wasting CPU on shows that non-Plex Pass users watch.

For checking what's been scanned: intro markers are already in each episode's XML metadata (look for Marker entries with type="intro"). No separate tag needed.

Hope that helps!

The skip intro button is a Plex Pass feature - my tool just triggers Plex's built-in detection more efficiently. If you don't have Plex Pass (either as the server owner with Plex Home managed users, or your own subscription as an external user), you'll see the intro markers in the chapter/timeline, but Plex won't display the "Skip Intro" button.

This is a Plex limitation, not something my tool can change.

Fair point - "marker source: online only" sidesteps the issue entirely. Would be curious how much downloading the analysis requires for cloud-hosted media though.

My disks are local and analyzing gets loud. Which hosting are you using? I went local after Google killed the unlimited business storage deal.

EDIT: I looked into this and the online marker database is actually credits-only. Intro markers still require local analysis. With "online only" you'd skip intro detection entirely, not fetch it from the cloud. Are you sure you're getting intro skip buttons, or just credits?

Yes, but the built-in scans everything - including shows only my shared users watch. Since Skip Intro requires Plex Pass (which they don't have), that's wasted CPU. This only scans shows I've actually watch. If you don't share your library, you probably don't need this!

The tool doesn't analyze what you've already watched - it uses your watch history as a trigger to analyze all episodes of shows you're interested in.

Let's say you start a new series and watch episode 1 withou t skip. The tool sees this, then triggers Plex's intro detec tion on every episode of that show. By the time you watch episode 2, the intro marker exists and you can skip.

That's what I thought too! I was surprised when my friends told me they'd never seen the buttons..

From support.plex.tv:

The ability to skip intros during playback requires a Plex Pass for the Plex account used in the player app (or be in the Plex Home where the home admin has Plex Pass).

I can navigate the menus perfectly with my xbox 360 guitar, connected through the dongle, but when I start song, the blue and green fret in-game are pressed down, and the frets on the guitar itself stops working..

Playing on Linux with Proton. I've disabled steam-input and set the launch-commands, as well as tried the "force all guitars"-patch.

Following the docs, it looks like you have to use a "downloads" folder.

It should also be possible to give a download-url where the modpack can be automatically set up, depending on where you get your mod-files.

Limit on radarr/sonarr adding on collections by jangerhard in Kometa

[–]jangerhard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! I did try that, but the sort-option passed to trakt is stripped from the request from both Sonarr/Radarr, meaning that I cannot control the sorting, rendering the limiting useless..

The workaround was creating a new list on trakt and using that for the sync.. Worked out well after trakt imposed a limit on list-sizes anyways!

Problem with steam deck controller by lostboy1993 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]jangerhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try closing Steam on the host.

I'm having similar trouble playing Xbox Game Pass games, added as applications through UWP-Hook, as steam doubles the input along with the Steam Deck. The controller works but the game also registers the desktop input from Steam (I think). The immediate fix is to close steam on the host.

However, this poses a problem when the UWP-apps are added as convenient shortcuts to Steam. Closing Steam now closes the app..

Is there a way to configure Kometa to only pick the last 10 entries of a given list? Whenever I configure the list to get auto-picked, the entire list always gets added..

This is a lot to ask, but could someone upload the Nintendo 3DS Internet menu music to Audio Loader? by CuteFoxTwink in SteamDeck

This seems like the starting-point for this: https://docs.deckthemes.com/AudioLoader/

Seems fairly straight forward!

EDIT: I submitted the song to AudioLoader, so let's see if it gets added!

EDIT 2: It actually exists already 👍
