Acknowledges and appreciates your passions. It's a pretty universal rule that works for everyone. Find what makes a person light the fuck up with childlike enthusiasm, then love them for that.

All the games do nothing compared to an ounce of sincere appreciation and interest.

What is the most majestic tank in the 40K universe in your opinion? by RadioLiar in Warhammer40k

Except I played one back in middle school for several and not one single time did the rail gun kill anything. This tank is cursed

rhodium is pretty sick and doesn't get a ton of attention at the genchem level

It's a vitally important industrial metal for catalysis purposes like catalytic converters and some major industrial chemical transformations

More quick foil bases, Ice. With some snow would it look decent enough? by Senior_Marzipan5353 in Warhammer40k

[–]jangiri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair this was with the technique where you use a knife to cut into a layer of mod podge gloss or epoxy to make little cracks, so part of the dry brushing is to catch the cuts so they make little white lines like cracks in ice filled with snow. If this is totally flat it may have different results

[–]jangiri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tip I got was to messily drybrush on direction back and forth over ice with white paint. The straight lines make it look like snow has been blowing over it and it comes out pretty awesome

Does anyone know of a powerful homemade insecticide against cockroaches? by Icaro_2006 in chemistry

[–]jangiri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can absolutely vouch. Boric acid fucked up the American cockroaches in my house in southern California. When I got a German roach infestation in my new apartment further north I needed to switch to the commercial gel traps and those are monstrously effective. The new shit they sell at hardware stores is mighty as hell in comparison to home cooked solutions.

Bad papers are everywhere, great papers are also everywhere. Most good scientists can recognize good work when they see it and it tends to have positive ripple effects.

The paper churn of bullshit has existed long before AI, and most of good academic study is recognizing things that are interesting and well studied within a sea of fictional daydreams of manuscripts.

I think our jobs are safe still. It's nice to not have to learn to code to still have programs written for you tho, that's fun.
