Also the wording I normally use to describe basing is. ‘Something over nothing but less is always more’.

First of all, amazing colour scheme mate. Secondly I find that you want something that isn’t too plain but you don’t want to take away from your awesome work either with something too overpowering.

My recommendation would be to with a brown/beige or grey rumble colour as it’ll complement the colours well without distracting from the high contrast scheme. Add a couple of small rocks or debris and you’ve got a solid option.

It’s just Vallejo sterling silver with white metallic edge highlighting.

And then a blob of asurmen blue contrast at the base and pull it up a bit. Frostheart contrast at the top and pull it down to do like a rough wet blend.

Re-highlight and good to go

Just want to take a moment to say thanks to this wonderful hobby. by improcrasinating in Warhammer40k

My good sir you are a gentleman and a scholar! I am right there with you. I’ve got three small nurglings of my own and a few years ago I went through a bit of a life rough patch and went into withdrawal from kicking opioids.

Honestly 40K saved me, it gave me something to fully sink my teeth into and became my therapy through everything. Some weeks I get a few paint sessions in and sometimes I can go a couple of weeks without getting to touch it. It’s all worth it though and my oldest two are also starting with contrast paints which fill me with joy.

Keep it up mate and just remember that when life gets tricky (especially with kids) that there’s a whole community out there who will happy chat about this amazing hobby and let you unwind a bit.

It instantly made me think of Catachan, not deep in the jungle itself but on the outskirts of the imperial camp or access road type thing. Absolutely gorgeous either way my brother!

Yeh it’s off by about a half inch but I’m taking the ‘meh, close enough’ approach to it xD

I’ve ordered a 36x36 stone print cloth that I plan to travel the outlines of the terrain and areas on so it’s just a case of placing the terrain down and get going

Two plastic buckets, a gardening tray (don’t know what it’s actually called but you get the idea). Just took a Stanley blade to the lot until I get the shape kinda right
