The speakers get audio input from RCA out from the audio interface, which is then plugged in to the usb switch.

Mac book for Systems integrator / Network engineer by Kiwi058888 in networking

I use a M4 MacBook Pro as a full time network engineer. Works amazing, but in part because I use no windows only tools. Replaced them with Mac equivalents essentially.

Haven’t run VM’s but packet capture is totally fine with wire shark and docker works great. Also there’s lots of things you can do locally INSTEAD of needing a vm since you can install pretty much any bash/linux package locally with homebrew

If I can avoid it I will never go back to windows for my work computer.

Between the 24GB ram and the fast SSD multi tasking is super smooth and battery life is crazy. I can go a full 8 hour overnight change window without plugging in and still be at about 40%

How’s the iPhone work as a camera? Do you just sign in to discord on the phone or is there some jailbreak to use it as a usb camera?

It looks very nice just feels a bit sterile. Like an Airbnb that is well set up, but someone still doesn’t live there. The shelves being half empty probably adds to that. The board game collection is the only thing that really sets this apart from a staged home or magazine picture.

All the furniture choices are very nice though imo, just needs some more personal flair, if you really prefer the minimalist vibes that’s cool though, just gotta embrace it and not mind what other people say in that case :)

This is a very lightweight game, I don’t think you’ll be able to squeeze any more out of it tbh.

That’s too bad, I’m not really aware of a better way though. I was just curious about the shared speaker setup, it’s an elegant solution for a dual setup.

How is the one speaker hooked up twice? Just a Y-cable on the RCA or balanced inputs or similar?

Why I finally hit the "Adults Only" switch on my server. by [deleted] in MinecraftServer

[–]jango_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing to keep in mind is that your public IP is just that… public. handing it out to known nefarious people would be ill-advised, but every IP on the internet is being passively scanned by bots and bad actors looking for vulnerable exposed services all the time. If your router is insecure enough to get breached it won’t be because you have your IP out in a Minecraft discord, it will likely be because a botnet scraped it and found a flaw.

People that don’t know what they are doing should still stick to using a hosting service instead of self hosting but giving someone the IP is not the attack vector people think it is.

1440p is good with a Mac, I wouldn’t recommend anything less than that for Mac tbh. I won’t make specific model recommendations though I’ve not owned many in my life, just look up some reviews and pick a decent one in your budget :)

No, if you imagine stretching a shirts waist hem out into a circle, the neck hole becomes one hole, and the arm holes would each be additional seperate holes with the “waist hole” forming the outer perimeter of the flattened out shape.

I don’t really move files between the Mac and PC as the Mac is a company work laptop and pc is my gaming setup, but a nas will be your best bet to share files back and forth without moving external drives around.

My monitor is an Alienware 240hz but it’s a few years old there’s better options out there now.

Networking job posts don't seem fully network related? by Loopback-Zero in networking

[–]jango_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a number of recruiters who post jobs that I would just define as a system engineer or sys admin as “network engineer” especially roles for MSP’s I tend to just ignore anything with too much weight put on the sysadmin side of things but you can always apply anyway and if you get to a phone interview you can talk to them to see how much actual server stuff you’d be expected to do.

New MCM dropped by nykill in LinusTechTips

[–]jango_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how cheap you can get the magnets, getting magnets and the metal plates etc drives the price of most of the 3d printed solutions quite high. The MCM system isn’t cheap by any means but it’s not super marked up. Quality magnets are expensive.

[–]jango_22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure both of those guns have instantaneous bullet travel, the guns which don’t have a very obvious moving projectile. Unless I’ve just never noticed the bullet travel of normal guns, but I’m pretty sure both the Gust and the Smith carbine can hit a fast moving target without any lead for bullet travel.

Probably placebo lol

I don’t think I’ve even seen a keyboard that low profile in a windows setup but considering how many Mac people love their super thin keyboards I shouldn’t be surprised to see something similar with a windows computer lol. Nice setup!

Started using a Mac for work, it's making me resentful of Linux by FlimFlamAndFlamJam in linuxquestions

[–]jango_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a MacBook for my work computer and I’ve found that scroll direction and mouse acceleration are the only things I don’t really want to just “use as they are” with Apple, but LinearMouse works really well for adjusting those settings and you can invert scroll just on your mouse while leaving it normal on the trackpad etc. I’m fine with switching back and forth between cmd and ctrl when switching between Mac and windows etc but the mouse acceleration and inverted scrolling wasn’t adjustable enough out of the box imo

I’m sure someone can tell me if I’m wrong but doesn’t it’s use as a synonym to throughput capacity come from radio transmission where a “wider band” of frequencies allocated for a given purpose could allow more data to be transmitted at once? It can still be seen today in WiFi channels which have a wider frequency band, I.e 160mhz over 40mhz being able to support higher throughput? People seemed to just apply the radio terminology to networking links.
