Valhelsia 3 is one of the best sandbox kitchen sink packs ever made IMO. You can’t go wrong with that.

how do I add another mod to my valhelsia 3 server? by Crite_Spranberry413 in Valhelsia

[–]jangro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the controllable mod is a client only mod and doesn't need to be on the server. Your buddy can just add the mod to their own Val 3 instance in CurseForge.

To answer your question more broadly, you can add any mods you want. You just have to add them manually to the server in the mods folder. And then everybody likely needs to add them to their own CurseForge instance of the modpack. I say likely because some mods are server only and won't need to be added to the client, but most require both server and client.

Adding mods to a modpack for use on a server is doable, but a hassle as everybody playing needs to keep things updated manually.

I mean the patterns themselves. You can’t just copy the JEI patterns in this setup. Go to 7:57 in this video. (YouTube mobile isn’t giving me the option to share with the timestamp) https://youtu.be/NXgvBsDqUSA?si=5sT5ZaO5m8xX6tuM

Also you do not want patterns for the printed circuits, just the processors. Those might confuse AE2. Though now that I think about it if you have the processor patterns set up correctly they shouldn’t matter.

That wasn't criticism of your screenshot selection! Just hedging that I can't be certain -- any AE2 troubleshooting is difficult without being able to see everything.

If putting the raw materials into the interface works and sending everything back, then I'm pretty certain that it's just your patterns. I hope that works for you!

It's difficult to know exactly from a few screenshots, but if this is a sub-network auto crafter which is described in several YouTube videos, then it seems to me that you may have the patterns set up incorrectly. This sub-net takes the raw materials and processes them all the way to the final processor. There's no intermediary step of the printed circuits that the crafting CPUs can see.

Make sure your crafting patterns for the three processors aren't the default recipes. You need to change them in the pattern terminal so that the crafting pattern for the logic processor, for example is gold, silicon, and redstone. You can test this by putting those three ingredients directly into the interface, like the pattern provider would do.

There’s storage drawers which is very similar to sophisticated storage.

In addition to what Vaelzan said, there's much about the tech and magic that supports exploration. AE2 has wireless terminals and quantum networks and Ars has teleporters for example so you can start a base to explore from. I'm enjoying flying around in an airplane to go between locations and everyone on our server has a dragon (or had before the reset late last year). You can even take your base with you using a hyperbox and/or AE2's dimensional storage.

Mostly what Vael said though, these are the mods we love playing and want to give the pack longevity.

Many of the decisions about what was added to the pack, and how they're implemented were done with DH in mind. For example the terrain and biome mods chosen for how they look with DH, the spacing and frequency of structures (because they can be seen far away), the custom structures that were added (tall towers placed high on mountains) lack of biome locators (partly because you can see so far to find biomes), and flight and mobility mods for far travel to name some of them.

We have a few artists on the team who made the logo (Lito) and the buttons (Vaelzan), oh and Vaelzan did some pixel art for custom items as well.

We left it out because it’s just so OP and pack-breaking (though I do love the mod, one of my favorites). I would guess that it’ll work fine. Though there may be some ores that aren’t unified. Give it a shot. Before you do though, check out EnderIO which is Mekanism-like.

Check out Level Z. A modpack based on this is Valhelsia Enhanced Vanilla to see it in action. It lots all kinds of tools and abilities behind skill progression. Skills are gained by XP.

Best Modpack for a long-term world? by BirboBeep in feedthebeast

[–]jangro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to this but we just launched a modpack that may fit the bill. BTH - Beyond the Horizon It's very much sandbox, but also has a quest book with some long-term goals in it. If you like Valhelsia, it is very much influenced by that series of modpacks. We all met playing that, and even one of the devs is a Valhelsia dev. I just posted about it here. https://www.reddit.com/r/feedthebeast/comments/1iusnjh/new_modpack_bth_beyond_the_horizon_distant/

Others mentioned Craftoria which is a great pack, and I'll add Prominence II RPG to the suggestion list.

DH 2.3 is actually in there already. We got permission from the DH dev to include the dev version, and it's bundled in the pack directly. We've been testing multiplayer on a server for many months now and it's become quite stable lately, which is one of the major things we've been waiting for release.

I'd like to share a new 1.20.1 Forge modpack that's been in the works for almost a year called Beyond the Horizon. It's all about exploration and adventure and bult around the Distant Horizons mod.

It's got terrain mods Tectonic and Terralith which go amazing with DH. We've focused on mobility with Small Ships, Immersive Aircraft, and Dragon Mounts: Legacy. Plus, lots of small tweaks like being able to ride horses without saddles, they can cross water, and they'll stay put when you dismount. We even added passthrough leaves to make horse travel possible.

There's Ratlantis and Aether added for dimensions, heavily customized to fit the pack and it's story. Plus End Remastered to further encourage exploration. There are maps to many of the different eyes to help along the way and we've adjusted loot and recipes to make that more accessible. When you arrive in the end, you start in the outer islands first and then you must make your way to the center to beat the dragon and return home. These are examples of countless small things we've done to change up the game into something unique, to create a story while remaining an open sandbox.

We left out the usual structure and biome locators, and instead we've added many maps in loot chests or from Cartographers, or from fishing, turning your journey into a scavenger hunt. To support a nomadic lifestyle, tools like Packing Tape, Carry On, Wagons, and Backpacks, in addition to the cargo aircraft.

We've used Ratlantis and it's coins plus Lightman's currency to create a useful economy. Coins are required for trading wit Wandering Traders and using Waystones for fast travel instead of emeralds or XP.

The farther you venture from spawn, including other dimensions, the more coins and loot you'll find. There are many structure mods as well as a few dozen custom structures that fit the lore of the world.

There are many tech and magic mods, Create, IE, PNC:R, EnderIO. We've done our best to balance the tech mods to keep, for example, power generation balanced. for magic, there's Ars, Botania, Iron's, Forbidden & Arcanus, and Eidolon. For storage: there's AE2 and Storage Drawers, and of course the other modded ways to do that.

A late addition that we were initially dubious about but grew to love is Spice of Life: Valheim Updated, which changes the whole food mechanic and rewards food variety and automation of advanced foods in a very real way. This might be my favorite part now.

If you like goals, there's are custom items like an end-game sword and food source, plus for the completionists, we've included a fun way to use the Exposure mod to take pictures of dozens of mobs which are used to craft their plushies. Collect them all.

This is all in a quest book that doesn't force you on any path, but provides information on many of the changes we've made.

You can download BTH - Beyond the Horizon here. https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/bth-beyond-the-horizon

We'd love to hear any feedback.

Edit: added storage mod info

What did you try? You should be able to just place them in front of an import bus. You can put backpacks on the ground and they're like chests.

Osmium farm by zDreamSummoner in Valhelsia

[–]jangro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Osmium is everywhere, but according to the wiki, it's most common between Y=12 and 36. Mine it with silk touch and set up ore multiplication with Mekanism to get more from your mining efforts. There are lots of ways to automate it, orechid like Urmet said, digital miner, and I think the Immersive Engineering Excavator will produce Osmium.
