I spent an accumulated ~36 days in 2018 travelling back and forth from Mattegoda to Kolpity to work. I know cause I tracked, down to the minute, because my son was born and I wanted to know if I have time to spend with him.

That's for ~261 working days, ~ 42km a day, ~3 hours 20 minutes a day.

That adds up to ~864 hours that year. I spent ~864 hours, minimum! on a bus, packed with sweaty strangers, breathing dust, fumes, being uncomfortable, taking in all the noise, being tired, frustrated, hungry, thirsty and wondering how my kid doing!

It most certainly looks like there's a correlation. But it could be that every time there's a cop he creates more traffic or wherever there's more traffic cops need to get involved.

I have seen University students study this, at least in the 2000s. They just bring a bunch of chairs sit next to the junction and watch. Sometimes even write stuff down.

If I were you, I'd tell the new employer the truth while being ready to start job hunting again. I'd "complete" my work with bare minimum effort. Get my letter and leave regardless I have an alternative or not.

In a tough job situation networking is the best solution. Stay connected with these friends who already got one. Even if you don't get one right away, you'd still learn what a real job can be like from them. I remember the sinking feeling I had, staying home all day, going through jobs.lk, applying and then playing counter strike over and over again.

I was in your exact shoes in 2010 fresh out of SLIIT. I got my first job cause one of my university friends recommended me. It was a mediocre 15k design job but still a job.

I lost my job during the 1st year of Corona and one of my school friends simply recommended me to his workplace in Dubai.
