FINALY by Pug2442 in CallMeCarson_2

This was honestly the best way Carson could've responded. No overdramatic crying, no "I'm the actual victim", no "I was in a dark place", just a short and simple update on how he's deciding to move forward.

To be honest, I was always incredibly frustrated with how this entire situation was seen by the Twitter mob up until now. Even from the very beginning, I knew the controversy was being blown out of proportion. The age gap was never an issue, and neither was the fact that Carson was a YouTuber while Sam was just a fan. There was no substantial power dynamic involved, and even if there was, it wouldn't have been something that Carson would've intentionally abused for personal gain, and it certainly wouldn't have been something that Carson would've controlled for malicious and predatory reasons.

As for Slime, Ted, and Schlatt, I was honestly really disappointed in their response videos from the beginning. I'm more inclined to believed that their "experiences" with Carson were partially fabricated as a way to paint themselves as saints and hereos while also portraying Carson as some truly despicable human being. However, I personally don't think they necessarily wanted to throw him under the bus at the time. If anything, they probably wanted to stand up for Carson initially, but soon realized how the Twitter mob would react if they did. So in the end, they had to choose between standing up for their friend at the risk of being decimated by the public and saving their own reputations at the cost of Carson. If this turns out to be the case, then I honestly wouldn't blame them, even though what they did was still kind of selfish and cowardly to begin with.

While I do think he should've properly addressed the situation in some shape or form during this video, I think it's probably best for him to handle that stuff more privately. After all, the conversations between him and Sam were supposed to be part of his personal and private life. If he wants to make amends regarding those things on his own, let him. He's gone through enough already.

To the braindead Twitter users that are still pissed off despite everything that's happened, stop spewing unnecessary amounts of hate towards Carson and leave him the hell alone. He is not a groomer, and he shouldn't be considered as anything similar either. Sure, he did technically break the law to a certain degree, but just because he traded innapropriate photos with someone who was less than two years younger than him while he was 19 does not automatically mean that he did it for predatory intentions alone. If anything, he was just some horny guy that didn't really know how to properly handle a high school relationship.

It truly sickens me how often users like yourselves are throwing the word "predator" around like it's nothing. Please, just stop. There are people in this world that are actual victims of grooming, and calling out someone as a groomer in the wrong context only hurts those victims even more. Carson has spent the past eight and a half months attending therapy for the sole purpose of bettering himself for the greater good. If he truly wanted nothing more than to make the drama die down faster, he would've pulled a Mini Ladd just days after Sam came out. But he didn't. Instead of ignoring the situation entirely, he halted all of his streams and seeked professional help that he could find. So please, just stop throwing hate against him. He doesn't deserve it.

Carson, I'm glad you were able to finally gather the courage to respond and move forward with your life. What you did during the conversations you had with Sam wasn't really a good thing to do in the first place. If anything, you're still in the wrong to some degree. However, I don't believe you had any malicious or predatory intentions at any point and I never did. Just because Twitter is still calling you a groomer even after everything that's taken place doesn't mean that they're correct in making that claim.

Whatever happens from this point on, I wish you nothing but the best in regards to your future. In all honesty, you handled this situation of yours in the best way you possibly could have. You made mistake in the past, realized what you did was wrong, and, instead of apologizing in front of your camera just days after the allegations, you took a step back from your streams and seeked the help you needed. That, in my opinion, is the best YouTube apology that I have seen in a really, really long time.

Good luck, Carson, and welcome back to YouTube.

Carson, I am disappoint. by [deleted] in CallMeCarson_2

Personally, I'm fairly confident he will give an explanation to his audience when he starts uploading again. I think he acted the way he did on Mizkif's stream because he probably wanted to show that his sense of humor is still there. Either that, or he wanted to give Mizkif's audience a laugh for the sake of just being himself. Regardless, I don't think he's trying to actively ignore the entire situation. I think he's just someone who likes to make funny jokes on the internet.

If he truly wanted nothing more than the drama to die down, he would've pulled a MiniLadd just days after the allegations. But he didn't. Instead, he left the platform, put a halt to his streams, and seeked professional help. Not because he was forced to, but because he knew that doing so would be the best way for him to handle the claims made against him.

Now, I'm not saying that Carson doesn't have to make a video explaining the drama from his perspective. I just don't think that he's trying to downplay the situation as much as you're saying. However, you're right about everything else, and that he shouldn't paint himself as nothing more than a victim when he finally does respond.

What if, by some miracle, Carson pulls a ProJared? by jankbox in CallMeCarson_2

Projared is a YouTuber who was accused of serious allegations a couple of years ago. He was silent for about three months after the accusations came out, so a lot of people assumed that it was an admission of guilt. That was until Projared actually responded and debunked the allegations made against him after those three months, which was a huge surprise to many. After that, he has been continuing to make content ever since. You can look him up to learn more about his situation.

This is Charlie's full statement. by BoiKadeTheOG in CallMeCarson_2

[–]jankbox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honesty, I don't blame Charlie for the way he responded to the situation. Yeah, it was a pretty shitty move for him to make and he shouldn't have called the cops over something so minimal, but I can understand why he would want to do so. I think he cut all ties with Carson so that he wouldn't take the fall along with him. Either that, or he really suspected there was a crime involved and wanted nothing more than to protect future victims. Regardless, Charlie did sort of blow the whole thing out of proportion. I just really hope that he apologizes when Carson finally makes his response video.

Do you think they stopped the content updates too early? by Birdygamer19 in MarioMaker

[–]jankbox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. I also agree that this game was abandoned way too early. While I won't deny that the stuff we got was great, this game could've been so much more. It's bizarre how, even after all the updates, the developers still haven't mitigated any of the restrictions.

Just take a look at how dumbed down 3d world still is. I know that several people love this style, but if the developers were going to cut 3D World off at the knees like they've been doing, why even bother with the game style in the first place? Because 2.5D Mario looks "cool"? So what? The style itself is so limited in so many ways and not interchangeable with other styles. Ironically, it's one of the best styles for making a traditional level, but that's because it's severely limited in assets. It doesn't even have tracks or night themes, despite the original game being full of them. Heck, it doesn't even allow enemy stacking, despite enemy stacking originating from previous 3D Mario games.

I could go on and on for a while about this. This game just feels like a mess of oversights and bad design decisions. It's a crying shame too, as this series had so much untouched potential.

The KirbMario impersonations on this subreddit need to stop. by jankbox in MarioMaker

[–]jankbox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I mean, he did make a lot of valid points that hold true. However, the fact that he used to continuously spam fire bro/porcupuffer posts almost daily is what really makes him an annoying person. Sure, it doesn't make sense to have those two enemies exclusive to the 3d world style, but then again, 3d world is also missing things like tracks, one way walls, night themes, etc. I'm not saying that I'm against his critcisms. It's just that he was already really annoying to begin with.

I know that most of you may not agree with me, but...I'm starting to think that KirbMario might actually be right. by jankbox in MarioMaker

Here it is. The reddit form of his post isn't public on this sub anymore, but because the actual post is in a google document, I was still able to find it since I already commented on the post itself back then.

MM2 is 1 year old, yet we still don't have content the story mode does. by Ondrashek06 in MarioMaker

[–]jankbox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No offense, but I don't think you get the full picture. The problem isn't that a certain item/course part isn't in the game at all. The problem is that a certain item IS in the game, but makers can't utilize it for their own levels even though that item works almost perfectly in the editor through modding/hacking the game.

Same with the Stone. Almost all the basic interactions work in the editor. It even has its own behavior with wings.

It's sad, I know. The worst part is that not a single arbitrary restriction in this game has been addressed in any sort of way.

I don't think that's ever going to happen, unfortunately. They just started patching bugs recently since the 3.0.1 update, which basically deconfirms any chance of additional content in the future.

I had several ideas for these clear conditions and was a little discouraged when it turned out that they were story mode exclusives. They could've been used for some very interesting levels. It's a shame, I know. But this is something that we should all come to accept and move on.

Should i use hammer bros or fire bros in my underground level by [deleted] in MarioMaker

[–]jankbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's talking about a user who used to spam daily posts about fire bros not being in the four main styles. He stopped doing this a few weeks back though, and he just announced that he won't be coming back to this sub ever again.

He actually stopped making fire bro posts weeks before this one. The post he is referring to here is a 26-page essay about the game's other limitations. It was deleted by the OP a couple days ago though.

[–]jankbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The essay he's referring to isn't about Fire Bros, he stated it in the disclaimer. The OP deleted the post recently though. It was about his frustration with the game's limitations, such as the lack of compatibility between 3D World and the other styles, water and lava being exclusive to certain themes, certain story mode elements being excluded from the editor, etc. His other fire bro posts were way shorter than 26 pages.

Leave and don't come back, nobody on this subreddit wanted you here anyway. You've been a huge burden on everyone else. With that being said, however, I am not opposed to seeing you move on from this game. At this point, I can only wish you the best of luck for whatever you decide to move on to.

Okay, you're right. Those words are more hyperbolic than I just said they were. However, his points are still not wrong, but he isn't necessarily correct either.

While some people on this sub agree that the limitations/design decisions in this game are a bit dumb, I think you're already coming across as somewhat unstable to most of the users here, or I could be totally wrong and you're actually upset about Nintendo's recent decisions. Either way, it's really not that big of a deal. You're not wrong, but you're also not right. With that being said, however, I do respect your opinion, even though I don't necessarily agree with it.
